golf thread.

Just wondering who all here plays golf, how often they play, if they've played anywhere amazing, what equipment they use (what they think of it), and what goals they have set for themselves this year!

I guess I'll start...
Play about once a week, practice every other day. Haven't played anywhere cool but looking to play at Pinehurst soon.

As for the equipment:
07 Nike Sumo driver (9.5 S-flex, stock diamana shaft)
Mizuno mx-25 irons (4-gw, s300)
Ping isopur putter (8 yrs old)
Cleaveland HiBore hybrid (2H, S-flex, fujikura shaft)
Nike stand bag.
Whatever balls I find on course..... but otherwise Titleist NXT or my Pinnacle shag balls (I lose atleast 6 balls a round... damn drops are killing my score)

Looking to pick up some Titleist Volkey Wedges and maybe an 07 TaylorMade Burner 3 wood.

As for goals, I'd like to hit 80's but I need to practice putting. I absolutely suck at it - especially when you hit the greens in regulation. 3 putting is my specialty.

I play. Pretty good, usually in the mid to lower 90's for 18, low 40's for 9.
I play with 100% pings.

I used to play quite a bit. Haven't played in about 2 years, though. Thinking of getting back into it.

I used to play with Teitlist irons and Callaway woods and drivers.

i've been playing on and off for about a year... so i'm still not very good... i shoot right around 100 now (i've come a long way from shooting like 120+...lol)... by the end of the the year, i'd love to be able to consistently shoot low 90s.... and possibly dip into the 80s every once in a while... i just started playing again, so now i'm playing weekly... there are tons of decent courses here in GA that you can play for ~$35-40 for twilight...

my gear:
driver: taylormade r7 quad - 10.5 stiff flex
iron set 1: taylormade r7 cgb max - regular graphite shaft (3-PW, SW)
iron set 2: taylormade r7 draw - regular steel shaft (4-PW, AW, SW)
woods: adams tight lies wood
wedges: titleist volkey 56 and 60 deg
putter: scotty cameron circa 62 no.3 putter (titleist)
ball: used to hit callaway hx hot. i've just switched over to titleist nxt tour. i'm liking them a lot better so far.

how do you like your mx-25s? a couple of my friends use those and they love em... i don't really like my irons sets, so ill be looking tos ell those soon... possibly try out some ping g10s... or g5s.... also open to the mx-25s too... i need a 9.5 driver and a regular shaft... my drive is probably the weakest part of my game.. i lack distance off the tee which forces me into hitting longer irons...

Just started going to the course about 4 months ago. I hit somewhere between 90-100 on 18.

All Affinity clubs except for
Titleist 54 degree (my favorite)
Nike 60 degree
Once I get better I'll buy the expensive stuff.
I only play on base about 2-3 times a week. I would love to get anywhere under 90, I just need to control my temper... HA!

I absolutely love to golf. I play 1-2 times per week, and am a member of a country club. I usually golf in the 80's. Any warmer than that, and I don't go.

j/k: I have a Taylor Made R7 driver and Ping i2's, and I'm a lefty. I usually shoot in the mid 80's.

I absoultely love my mx-25s. I read the reviews about it feelin like butter when you hit them solid.. and it really does. It doesn't even feel like you made contact. However, I did notice that they aren't THAT forgiving, but much more so than the mp-57s. i went from hitting my 5 iron 170 yards to 190.

I also got a great deal on mine. $600 new, fitted, lies adjusted, & grips. golf galaxy just reduced the price from 750 to 700 since they are trying to get rid of stock as the new MX are coming out in september. I bought mine from a local proshop.. even got a free hat! I always try to help out the small businesses when i can, rivals any deal you'd find on the bay.

I did try out the g5 and g10. If I were to pick from those two, I would get the g5. practically the same iron and you can get them for $4-500. However, again, they were not forgiving enough for me and i really wanted forged irons.

i tried these irons out:
titleist ap1 - overpriced. hit more like a blade.
g10/g5 - not forgiving enough, cast.
callaway x20 rifle 5.5 - great great great irons. just a bit too expensive. really liked the rifle shafts over the stock shafts.
mizuno mx 19, 25, and mp 57 - didn't chose the 19's bc I'd out grow them too quickly. the 57's weren't forgiving enough for me.
nike slingshot 4d - also fabulous irons. 2nd place, but with the deal i got on the 25's i had to pass these up.
cobra s9 - great irons too. 3rd place. I'd only pick the slingshots over these due to price. but wow, fantastic irons. hit these a little longer than the mx-25s, but that wasn't a big deal since i can always move up an iron.

it came down to 1. feel. 2. forged. 3. bang for buck. for $600, i think i made the right choice!

as for lacking distance off the tee.. you should go and get 1 lesson - it'll make the world of difference. the stiff shaft could also be robbing you over yardage if your swing speed is slower.

I try to play as often as I can, but work and family are always getting in the way. Because of that I play about every other month. Shoot somewhere between 82-87 normally. Best place I have ever played was Tapatio Springs outside of San Antonio in Bouerne. Great triple course there, and the hardest one plays host to PGA events at times. Gear: Wal-mart specials that I have had for about 8 years now. They are the worst clubs I have ever played with, but I do not want to get better ones now. I do pretty good with this equipment, there is no need for getting uber expensive stuff if you can't properly make contact with the ball anyway. The clubs won't swing for ya

I play on a course, but not terribly well. My specialty is the Re/Max WLDC (World Long Drive Championship) competitions. Unfortunately, my longest drives (388 yards, 378 yards, 392 yards - 140mph swingspeed) still aren't enough to qualify for the championships in Mesquite.

I use:
Drivers: Cobra X/Speed 9.5* Aldila NV-X 45" X-flex shaft, Cobra X/Speed 8.5* Aldila NV-X 45" X-flex shaft, Cobra Speed Pro 9.5* Aldila VS Proto 46" X-Flex shaft, SMT Deep Bore 455 6* Accuflex 48" XX-flex shaft (my long drive club)
Fairway: TaylorMade R7 15*
Hybrids: TaylorMade Rescue Dual 19*, 22*
Irons: Ping Rapture White Dot w/ Ping ZZ-65 stiff steel shafts
Wedges: Titleist Vokey Spin Milled 56* and 60*, Cleveland CG14 52*
Putters: Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless Newport 2 (my favorite), Odyssey Black #1, Scotty Cameron Studio Style #5, Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball SRT XG

I used to play quite a bit but now I play maybe once a month . The coolest course I have played was The Links in South Carolina back in 99.

I suck balls at golf, it's the only 'sport' I'm not at least decent at. I have a set of Ping i3's and the Ping IST driver and an Odyssey putter. I could do better in a round of golf using a tennis racket as long as I was allowed to pick the ball up on every shot except those on the green, I'd get down and shoot pool with the back end of the racket.
My best round of golf ever was a 98.

I play 3 - 4 times a month. I use Cleveland CG gold irons, a Cleveland TI Launcher driver, Titleist fairway woods, and a Scotty Cameron putter. I shoot in the 90s. The coolest course I have played is the Old Course at St. Andrews. I have also played Sawgrass the TPC course in Jacksonville.

I play very occasionally.

I just got a cheap clearance set a long time ago

I don't play enough to justify buying all new equipment.

I play a couple times per week usually.....mid 80's are pretty typical.

Hogan Apex Plus irons (had these forever)
Nike driver
some old 3 wood can't even remember what it is
Odyssey putter

Haven't played anything real exotic....pretty much all on the west coast and nothing international. Nicest courses I've played are:

La Casta
Torrey Pines South (accidently chucked a Liquid Metal driver off of the 4th tee I think it was...don't know if it made it clear to the ocean)
Witch Hollow (Pumpkin Ridge private side up here in OR....site of Tigger's last(?) US Amateur)
The Reserve South (Jacobson hosted a senior PGA tour event there up until last year)
