Joe Calzaghe gives up title to Face Roy Jones Jr

According to the British Boxing Board of Control, on Friday Joe Calzaghe relinquished his WBC super-middleweight title to set up a possible match up against Roy Jones Jr. for the light heavyweight title.

Calzaghe wants to fight Jones Jr. later this year, hopefully in September.

In relequishing his WBC title, Calzaghe is no longer obligated to defend it against Carl Froch. Calzaghe still holds the WBA and WBO super-middleweight belts.

Recently Calzaghe also split from his long-term promoter Frank Warren.

^ so who do you like??

I am pulling for Calzaghe, simply the better trained, more disciplined and better boxer. I like Jones, just can't see him beating Calzaghe especially if they fight outside of the US.

I don't think RJJ has anything to worry about power wise. Calzaghe's slap punches doesn't really post a threat IMO. It just depends on how well trained RJJ comes into this fight.

id rather see Calzaghe Vs Pavlik

Roy Jones Jr. The man is still fighting? Haven't seen a fight of his in like years. For those who follow him closely, how have his skills kept up? apparently good enough for a title shot.
