New NBA Team: Oklahoma City ______?

[Stealing this idea from Petros & Money...]

If you could submit 3 choices as to what the name of the new franchise should/would be, what would they be?

Many callers, lots of suggestions, the few I remember:

1) Dusters
2) Outlaws
3) Thunderbirds

The ones that made me laugh: The Oklahoma City "Sucks" (someone actually called with that), the "Wind", the "Tumbleweeds".

I forogt, someone actually did suggest "Cow Tippers", he said, "because it could also be incorporated into an awesome half-time show. The kids could come out to center-court and tip over the mascot."

lol who knows what they will name it. cow tippers lol oklahoma city is the 30th largest in the nation population wise bigger then atlanta and miami. We dont still ride horses to work

We need to get away from stuff like tornadoes, twisters, oilers, drillers, etc.

Outlaws is good. Dusters....ehhh. Wind...ehhh.

i heard that one too i really dont care im not a huge bball fan ill go to a few games but thats prob it. I wish we still had the hornets i actually liked some of their players. Im just glad were not keeping the colors of the sonics that ish is ugly.

I actually like "Outlaws", but seeing how even Washington had to change their name from "Bullets" to "Wizards", I'm thinking the NBA is going to be pretty strict about anything that would remotely be related to guns or violence.

Hence "Gunslingers", etc, are also probably out.

It won't happen b/c it would piss a lot of people off, but it would be crazy to see the league clean up its names. Give the Jazz name back to NO. What's up w/ Grizz in Memphis (unless someone corrects me about the bear population there)? Probably can't touch the Laker name.

Yeah, the "Lakers"...a leftover from its Minneapolis days.

But what would/could you rename the Lakers? What's L.A. known for?

The L.A. Gangstas? L.A. Slackers? BeachBums? Ricers? Vagrants?

N.O. really should be renamed the Jazz. I mean, that's what the Crescent City is known for (although they could be called the N.O. "Gumbo" or "Crawdaddies" or "Beignets").

Memphis...yup, no Grizzly Bears thar. So what else is in Memphis besides Graceland/Elvis, the Beale? What are some animals that are indigenous to the Memphis/Tennessee area?
