NFL Sunday Ticket...WTF?
NFL Sunday ticket has gotten out of control! I just looked at my direct TV bill and they now want $350 for 17 weeks of games. They spread it out to 41.50 over 6 months and an additional 16.50 for 6 months, for the games in HD (I already pay an additional $10 a month for HD). I can afford it, but, it just doesn't feel right when we get 3 network games between 1 and 4 and then the Sunday night game and some weeks with 2 on Monday. I made a hard choice and canceled it. I had to stand up to this bullsh!t. I guess I'm going to be a little more productive on Sundays this fall.
Does anyone else feel this is getting a little extreme? Between personal seat licensees in the thousands of dollars and tickets in the hundreds, it is going to get to point where people aren't going to be able to afford to be a fan! I think professional sports is in for a rude awakening when the rest of the country wakes up like CA has, and realizes their is more to do than sit on our butt watch these idiots get rich off of our dime. I make decent money, but, when I have kids I doubt I will be able to afford $500+ per game. End of rant. Who knows, maybe after week one I'll think it is worth it. Though I doubt it. |

I called and canceled last week. I can't justify it. I live in the market w/ my team (Washington) so that's what I'm focused on anyway. I actually did the same thing the year before. I canceled it b/c it didn't make sense to me, but mid-season they had a what seemed like a cheap promotion, so I turned it back on.
I did notice that when I called to cancel, the operator offered to give me Superfan for free in order for me to stay. I still declined. I do think the price is B.S., but plenty of people are willing to pay. If nothing else, Superfan should be included at no additional cost, not as a $100 extra

I think it's a rip too but since my team is Buffalo and I live in Houston, I have no choice.

Hey! Bufallo for me too! I'm from Rochester and live in Philadelphia now. Thank god the Eagles are my NFC team.
Let see if Edwards can do what JP couldn't. |

Never saw a need for it. I go to my regular sports bar every Sunday during football season; well when ever my team is playing!

Have you guys looked into FTA ( free to air ) satellite boxes. A friend has one and he gets east coast local channels. So he's able to chose and watch several different east coast local NFL games, besides all games shown in west coast. Its just like having the NFL package. Downside on FTA's, is sometimes boxes will go down, but just wait for the fixes or files to download from several different online forum/support sites, and upload files to box. There are several different brands, and some boxes last longer and wont need fixes for awhile. Prices vary from $100-$500 for the HD boxes. They really pay for itself in long run, from having several PPV movies, PPV sport events ( boxing and MMA fights ), and premium channels. Search online and do your homework before purchasing. Your local Craigslist and Ebay has dozens of these units for auction. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, use these units for testing purpose only.
