Official British Open Thread

Officially, who cares?

I love the British Open generally. It has the worst rough of all the roughs. It is held where golf began...I woke up at 7 A.M. to watch what I could until I had to go to do some work....But Frankly, without Tiger it is boring as $#!+. I don't effing care who wins.

I'm sure I'll watch as much as I can, but it ain't the same without the Tiger drama....

Just me, I know.

No Tiger = No fun. I may watch Final round, depending who's still in it.

No Tiger the golf should still be fun. If the only reason you watch golf is because Tiger plays then you are missing out. There are so many great tournaments without superstars playing in them! The Open should be very good this year! A lot of competition, and just because Tiger is not there you shouldn't not watch it.

Wow, Villegas shoots a 65 in 2nd round. Great to see Duval, Norm and Rocco playing well.

I don't think this will be a boring open...this is one of the most competitive tournaments of the year and everyone brings out the a-game. this should be just as good without tiger in the field as all the majors are fun to watch. sure we will miss watching tiger's game but there are still plenty of good golfers in the world. looks like the course is playing tough this year with the weather...as expected. this is what is so great about golf...could be anyone at anytime....especially without tiger.

I've been watching golf since the seventies. I understand there are a lot of other people playing golf. But for me now, it's the "story" in a given tourney. Do you really care if Duval or Harrington is leading? I don't. I do appreciate that a 52 year old Shark is leading or K.J. has the chance to be the first Asian to win the Open. I've been spoiled by Tiger as it relates to my interest in a tourney.

Chrissy is following every shot by Greg. His divorce cost a lot but good to see Evert following him around the course. I hope he hangs in there til Sunday.

I think it is a great story for Duval to be playing well again....It is too bad that Tiger has spoiled your interest in a tourney. It shouldnt be that way, if you are a fan then you should enjoy golf whether Tiger plays or not. You get to watch golf at a level that probably less than half a percent of the world can play to. Duval or Harrington or Norman or Choi IMHO is a better "story" than Tiger is. You have heard "Tigers story" time and again.....isnt it time for a new "story?"

This has been one of the best two days of the tourney so far......

I never knew there were other golfers judging by the coverage.......

Umm Tiger is the first asian to win the open...

Tiger = Fialed to represent his asian"ness"

I haven't seen any of it because of work, but I got to see Rocco and Camillo's round. Props to the Shark, in contention at 53. It would be so crazy to see him win this one.

John Daly, a 29 for first 2 rounds. Why does he even show up? He needs to find another game, maybe take up bowling or something.

I know....I should give a $#!+ but it's like running the Kentucky derby without the best horse. Seems like the Nationwide Tour....

Although, if Norman can hang in there til Sunday, I'll be watching.

Yeah, It's great to see Duval playing well again btw.

Now I realize what the problem is, you are from southern california, I know it says I am as well, but not where I am from. Everyone from SoCal is bandwagon to no end.....drives me nuts! This tournament will be great and it will be that way without Woods. If you dont enjoy it then too bad, hope you enjoy it when Tiger comes back, guess you will have to wait a long time!!

Dan....if you close your eyes and just listen to the audio of the tourney.....you may think Tiger is playing after all.

Go get em Norman........what a story this would be.

Did I mention he's my favorite golfer of all time???

i was pulling for the shark but in typical fashion he folded again on the final day...but still an amazing accomplishment at 54. he is and always has been a great golfer. i don't think the final pairing was good for normy...but gotta hand it to harrington who played a great final round
