I think this world is loosing its sense of humor. I think is funny, and makes me think no less of the Chinese people or their culture. Their eyes ARE slanted, it is a matter of fact.

Couldn't it be seen as "Gee, we wish our eyes were like this!" ?? Or "Now we are all Chinese".... But no, we rather actually think that an Olympic team representing their country actually conspired to insult the host country.

I think it is funny how the media plays these things. If they make a big deal of it, is a big deal. If they ignore it, so does the world. Slapote, I think you miss the point of the outrage over it.

I do find it funny that you can make a critical statement in the Obama thread that there is racism towards blacks today, but just as quickly come on to this thread and state too many things are taken too seriously nowadays when it comes to "humor" such as this.

What gives you the right to tell someone what they can and cannot perceive as offensive? Are you Asian? What would give you the right to say it should and shouldn't be for others even if you are?

I actually am a VERY laid back guy when it comes to ethnicities and dish out and take jokes about said topics with all my friend's. So I see where your stand point might be coming from. However, the point, I believe, is that for a photo such as this to be released during such an international event was just simply done in poor taste and it makes absolutely no sense to have done it.

I can obviously see where it was done simply for "humor" but it obviously was done WRONG and should never even have been done. The fact that a quick apology hasn't even been issued makes it even more outrageous. I can easily name a few other races/ethnicities that if the Spain picture mocked them of...would have a HUGE controversary started over MUCH bigger than the one mocking Asians would have been.
