Default Golf Fans?

I absolutely hate golf, however, this week I'm working the US Senior Open at Crooked Stick. If anyone is interested. I may bring the camera out a few days and take some pictures.

FYI: People never think about these from a police/fire perspective, but golfing events are a MAJOR pain in the azz, there are like a million old people out here. Between the old timers passing out from heat, car accidents, slowing traffic, and just general health concerns It seems like over 50% of the cities resources are tied up between police and fire.

at $60/hr though, I'll suffer through it.

LOL!!! I've played golf since I was a kid. So, I'm a golf fan, but I've been at a few PGA tournaments and that seems like a logistical nightmare. Last year I was at the US Open here in San Diego and it was a NUTS.

At least you'll only have to deal with mostly Senior Citizens.

but for 60/hr, I'd do it to.

Well, I'm not exepcting any fist fights to break out between Fuzzy Zoeller and Greg Norman fans... yesterday Fuzzy was playing his practice rounds and he was obviously drunk. It was hilarious he was smoking the whole time to. I looked at my Lt, and said "I would lock that guy up for PI if it would start a riot." My Lt (being a zombie movie buff like myself) said, "Oh you wouldnt have to worry, you could simply push down the old people when they attacked you..... they key is to keep moving."

We have 2 Command Vehicles out here, you know those huge buses with millions of $ of equipment in them, 25 officer from my pd, 50 from state, and 25 from another, and 50 from various other agencies. The going rate for most Officers is $40/hr. I have the hookup from a friend I know who works at the course so I get the inside rate. Yesterday I met this guy named Pete Dye, and a couple of people around me seemed star struck. I shook his hand just to be polite and he walked away. After he left I was like "who the hell was that guy?" Everyone looked at me like I was an idiot.... later on, I found out that he was the guy who designed teh course and many others on the tour.... oops

Heh.... As a golf geek Pete Dye is arguably most popular/nut hugged golf architect of all time.

Yeah, golf tournaments especially Majors are like ComicCon for Golf Geeks. And since you're at the Senior Open... geriatric ComicCon.

Doesn't surprise me that Fuzzy was drunk, I wouldn't be surprised if more player's were drunk, especially in the practice rounds. what do those old guys play for anyway... the Senior's tour is a glorified exhibition tour. Granted Watson in the British Open, turned the clock back. Except for the last 4 holes where he realized he was 59.

Have fun collecting your easy money.

"Some dude that everyone called the Golden Bear walked by. I was like who the eff is that? I'm just holding up my QUIET sign raking in my $60 an hour. People were all gaga over the guy wanting autographs and ish."

or next weekend....

"So I took on this part time gig at the local ballpark. Apparently there is game called "baseball", where someone throws a ball and folk try and hit it. Who'd a thunk it? I was standing next to this guy named Derek Jeter and for some reason people were all over the dude. I asked who he was and someone told me he was like important or something. Anyway, if anyone is interested I'll bring my camera. Next weekend I'm pulling down $50 an hour to guard some black dude named Obama whoever the eff that is."

I was bored out of my skull, I thought if anyone wanted to see the "behind the scenes" of an PGA event, I'll take some pics that way, I could keep myself occupied. Sadly no one responed to the affirmative...
