So Cavic beat Phelps's times wearing that soon to be banned Arena X-Glide suit and afterward said Arena would be happy to give Phelps one so we can see who is really faster. Phelps said uh no thanks, i'll wear my legal LZR and spanked that Serb for another world record (although the Serb also would have set a record ). Can't wait until 2010 when the suit is banned and all the poseurs have to compete without performance enhancing suits

You know the LZR is getting banned as well right? It was the first performance enhancing suit, other companies just came out with better ones

You also called the LZR legal. The arena suit is just as "legal" as the lzr.

yes it is. but the Arena suit takes "technology doping" to a new level. 94% of the medals won in Bejing were worn by swimmers wearing the laser. The Arena is faster than the laser and was generally the cause of all these suits being banned. Technology was ultimately influencing the sport too much....a juiced ball as it were.
My point was merely Cavic in an LZR is no match for Phelps in an LZR. Cavic needed an Arena and then he got mouthy and STILL lost.

Actually the ish hit the fan after the LZR technology but we can agree to disagree. And you will get your opportunity to see everyone racing sans these suits....
btw, he actually did accomplish something. he beat all the other swimmers in the world in full length suits regardless of brand. the world records may be suspect but the wins certainly aren't.

The Arena wasn't around for the Olympics, and 94% of the wins at the Olympics were won with the LZR suit. Are you saying that at that point it wasn't considered technology doping? There was no controversy surrounding the olympics?
Swimmers were ditching their sponsors left and right to get an LZR at the olympics, i would certainly consider that ish hitting the fan

My point is Cavic is a BIGGER cheater. (I keed.)
My point is everyone agreed on the level of "cheating" and Arena and BlueSeventy upped the ante. FINA had to step in. They didn't step in at the Speedo development.
And Cavic thought he stood a chance against Phelps wearing the Arena. He even suggested Phelps should dump Speedo and wear the Arena to "fight fair". Well, Phelps did not jump ship on Speedo and beat Cavic wearing an inferior suit, albeit still a cheater suit, just not a cheater suit on the Arena level. Phelps would have beat him by a measurable amount more wearing the Arena IMO.
