I havent used it yet, but it is common curtiousy to tip anyone that does that similar type of work, espcially if you are going to use it again in the future!

his pay isn't based off tips. so he is a regular hourly employee. i wouldn't tip. but a friendly gesture for a job well done is always welcomed in the service dept. i have a lady that brings me wine, tshirts, bbq sauce, cookies....everytime its something. gotta love that ****! now if she was only younger!!!!

Im going to assume most dealerships operate the same way. The acura where i worked, the shuttle guy got paid hourly, so it is correct in saying his pay isn't based off tips. But i spoke with him alot, he said most people tip him, even if it is just a dollar. They're usually nice/chill guys who drive it so it would be nice to tip him a buck or 2.
I'm amazed that everytime I go to the States, I have to tip everyone. You guys are nuts. They're like beggars... once you give them money they expect it! It's the guys JOB to drive the courtesy van. It's already a cushy job for stoners or old people... why tip?

to me its kinda like the tip jar on the counter of any retail/fast food place. If I am coming into your store, buying your food, and walking back out, why the hell am I tipping you!?!? You deliver that sheot to my door or forget a tip!!!! You didn't do a damn thing other then reach out your hand for my money. now you want more.....just because???? no way! i think i read an article on this very recently. i shall go find it.
No, never have.... the last time I was riding in the ''van'' out in Ottawa, I told buddy about my hemaroids..... That guy was awsome! He told me about ''Tucks wipes''... been a fav ever since.... perhaps I should have tiped him?

So why do you tip Starbucks workers, baggers at the grocery store, ect ect!
You guys do that too???!!!! The guy bags groceries... why the hell should I pay EXTRA for that? Maybe if it was the BEST packaging job in the history of man... or I had the best White Chocolate Mocha in my LIFE.... Then I would consider tipping.

First off, IM originally from australia so we dont tip there usually, so I understand where you're coming from, however, after living here for over 10 yrs, its customary to tip for services tendered, just as its customary for bowing in many asian countries, etc. You dont have to like it, just understand the culture.

I usually don't tip these guys only because, at starbucks, its like a subway restaurant. Like a pay then eat place, so its more like a cafeteria. Publix baggers, i dont tip because there are huge signs telling you NOT to tip to discourage laziness regardless of tip, etc

You're exactly right, why should u tip at fast food places, and retail places.
But service drivers are in a different field.
VO(believes anyone can put out a tip jar to make people feel obligated)

While we're on the subject of tips, do you guys happen to tip at restaurants that serve buffet for lunch? I mean yes you do have a waiter than may come around and give you water, but that's it. Is it expected that I still tip for this even though I had to do the work and get the food?
