Tuned a '03 350z with a Greddy TT on Haltech Platinum and the smile on the face of the client told the story. That car is going to be used for drifting and his main reason to be happy was the fact that the car felt as if the turbo was stock from the factory. Throttle response was lightning fast and no stumbles at all thru out the whole power band.

There are many good systems out there. As long as the tuner is good and cares about the over all performance of the car, the results will arrive.

Shakuya88 - You are correct, a standalone would best suit your needs if you are looking to possibly go down the twin-turbo / built motor path. It will grow with you, and provides additional safety features such as overboost protection that are invaluable for a setup like this. My recommendation would be the Haltech Platinum plug and play standalone. This would allow for a concrete tune on fixed axis that make sense (most commonly RPM vs BOOST) with automatically-triggered onboard datalogging of boost, afrs etc. Additionally you would gain outputs such as closed loop boost control with speed/traction reference and a nitrous/meth window switch. Running a Haltech will not cause a CEL by itself, but often with a full build like this other parameters will trip it (example: needing rich AFRs under boost). If you do get a cel, we can turn off specific codes with a vq35de reflash

I was suprised to not see more ProEFI votes from the 350Z community!!

Flex fuel, Traction control, i-Boost, OEM-based fuel/ignition/boost compensation, CAN gauge with it's laundry list of features, advanced Knock control capabilities, and multiple failsafes built right in. We definitely are confident with out product and it's obvious why!!

ya and its a 3000$ EMS.

its already been discussed that there is no knock control on the 48pin and you need an additional module to do flex fuel on the 48 as well...

but the 128pin is a nice unit. too bad there are 0 128pin users on this forum.

ProEFI 48-pin unit: $1995 with Flex fuel capabilities (with purchase of Flex Fuel sensor for $459 and Ethanal percentage gauge for $199), I-Boost, and more!!

ProEFI 128-pin unit: $3469 with built in Flex fuel capabilities (with purchase of Flex fuel sensor for $459), Traction control, advanced knock control, I-Boost, and more!!

One other thing I wanted to correct is that the HP Potential on the CAN gauge is the estimated CRANK engine horsepower not wheel horsepower. It is based on the fuel consumption of the motor and is mathematically very accurate!!

It really all depends on what your goals are and how much you are willing to spend. I know that this is a pricey unit which is why we offer two different units. No one ever said Motec was cheap either!

As for no one runningthe 128, is Vlad not on here? He's the owner of the monster G sedan:

The 128 unit is a nice product, but it won't be on par with the Haltech until you have CAN integration worked out so that it can utilize the stock wheel sensor data for creation of maps using wheel slip as an axis. I'm not sure what you can do for traction control without any wheel sensor data, other than adding additional sensors ($$$). The flex fuel and knock control are nice to have though and look well implemented.

The 128 does have CAN integration with wheel speed differential if that's what you're asking about. The 48 does not, which is why it doesn't have the traction control.

I'm not sure if I completely answered your question. I will see if I can get Larry to fill in a couple of the blanks on the subject.

ProEFI UPDATE!!!!!

I have just been informed today, that the ProEFI 128 is now in perfect harmony with the stock wheel sensors so the Traction Control system is only a few mouse clicks away from being set up. No additional sensors needed!!!

also is it able to disable the immobilizer?

It cannot disable the immobilizer.

can someone fill me in on what ems they would recommend, I'm building a 3.8 stroker and running a single turbo with 272 cams. best bang for the buck?

As far as I can tell UpRev has a monopoly on 350Z FI tuning these days. Is that the case? I'm (slowly) building up a parts inventory for a single turbo build on an 06 uprev VQ35DE. Just wondering if I have any other options for tuning after its built....

Haltech has released multiple plug & plays and further more stand alones, AEM just released the Infinity series, Link has the G4+, Vipec has a i series, not to mention emanage and uprev...plenty of options, welcome to the forum and please use the search button...
