First impressions of the ProEFI

I said I would post my first impressions of the ProEFI on my car. Let me start by saying that my budget is tight, so I am spending my money in the places I see most important first. It will be a while before I can afford to build an engine, so I chose engine management first, turbo kit second becuase it would suck to have a turbo and have to attempt to drive it like stock! So, I have a completely 100% stock daily driver with a ProEFI and all the sensors. I was told when I dropped the car off that it would most likely take a bit longer cranking to start because of a sync issue that has been found and is in the works to be fixed (the update of course would be no charge). However I haven't seen anything too much out of the ordinary so far. I picked up the car, fired right up.....perfect Idle...Yahoo! Drove it to the gas station, and filled it up and reset my trip....we'll see what affect there is on fuel economy. My normal around town driving with the occasional freeway driving usually nets me about 17mpg...so we'll see where that goes. I will say this, if it weren't for the added off idle throttle response, and the additional top end power, I would swear the stock computer was still in control. My car picked up 12hp to the tires, with just a little more midrange power, maybe 1 or 2 hp, and about 20' lbs of torque at 2k. Have not noticed a single glitch or hiccup of ANY kind whatsoever! Cruise works, air works...everything works!

I'll give another update in a day or two!

Sounds Good! Another forum member went this same route. He is now Turbo'd with a Powerlab kit as of this week. Keep us updated on your findings. Did Intense say when they would be able to update the software to eliminate the cranking issue?

sounds like the 48 to me, 128 would really be overkill on 95% of the built engine boosted cars here, let alone a stock DD on a budget

I went with the 48, it will do pretty much everything I want. Looks like it will be a few weeks before the change in cranking is ready to implement. I have probably started the car a couple of dozen times since the install of the computer, and yeah...it's noticable, however it really isn't that bad, so I'm not worried about it. So far...PERFECT idle, ZERO glitches, hiccups or anything of the sort. Really VERY seemless. I am currently VERY happy with my decision to go with the ProEFI, and have Zero complaints!

I just re-filled the tank after the ProEFI install.... the gas milage was actually up 2mpg! Since they may ofcourse be a fluke, I am continuing to monitor it (as I always did stock). I will say this, my driving habits haven't changed, and my car always consistantly got between 17 and 18mpg in the heat of the summer. This tank was a tick over 20... we'll see where we are next week. Not much else to report... no issues whatsoever. I may take the car back and have them detune the low end response a little bit. Didn't think I'd ever say that...

Well I have to say it's official... I am average of 1.5mpg over stock with the ProEFI over the last 3 tank fills. Still no issues, I hope to have the turbo installed in the next 4 weeks. Then the fun really begins!

I too have the pro-efi 48 on a built shortblock (lower compression 8.5:1), twinturbo with big fuel (SP triple pump, 1000cc injectors)
Mine needs to crank like 1/2 second longer than stock at initial startup. No hiccups or anything.......daily driving my mileage is up too, but in boost....well you know.

If not for the clutch, under normal driving you wouldn't know anything was done.
