Default cleaned throttlebody - idle OK but throttle response is abrupt

I was changing the sparkplugs in my 2003 350z and figured i would clean the throttlebody since the air intake was off anyway. have i made a mistake?
Since i cleaned it out the idle is OK but it appears the closed position is no longer calibrated properly.
When opening the throttle partially or closing it after partial opening there is an abrupt response similar to those i have experienced on my last car (sr20det) when the tps was not sitting right.
the cruise control also behaves unusually and placing a noticable bump through the drivetrain as it open's and closes the throttle abruptly.

I have tried resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battery for an hour but this has not helped.

Any ideas guys?

thanks !

Robert

You need to reset your throttle body position. Follow these procedures:

I had the same exact problem on my 35th anniversary when I cleaned out the TB and I put my Nismo intake on. I did all the resets possible (ECU reset, Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning, Idle Air Volume Learning, Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning) and it went away after a month or so. But worst case scenario, you might need a new TB.

i dont think I have ever read a thread where someone has cleaned their MAF and NOT had more problems afterwards.

unplug the battery for a few hours and good luck!

What did you use to clean it?

Would the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" principle apply here? I have an '04.5 Touring Coupe which runs flawlessly; I feel that if I mess with a fine-running car, I'd be looking for a pain in the neck which I DON'T need!
