I've never heard of one being used on a Z33. They are popular on the Z32 platforms though.

we used them on Z33 a while ago before they was really any options available ***Cough***UPREV***Cough*** they worked pretty well actually, you just tie into one coil driver and set your cylinders to 1 and there ya go. Some times when the engine was under no load the RPM signal would skip around but as soon as ya get on the throttle it would be correct....

uprev osiris ftw

safc is just a piggy back, it simply tricks the ecu to make it run differently. the way the z's ecu is designed, piggy backs are only effective for about 500 miles after it's "tuned" before it will gradually return to running like it did before.

I thought after so many miles the ECU quit relearning??? i could be wrong. All i know is i have an SAFC2 and my car is running lean. so i figured i could use it until i could afford an AccessPort, but if it will go back to the way it was after 500 miles its not even worth my time to do it.

well the first part is cause for the money uprev is you best bang for you buck and is dozens of times better then an AFC.

As far as the tach signal, when ya pick up off the coil driver at idle the signal is a lil on the weak side, due to not needing a strong spark(long dwell) at idle so the AFC sometimes losses the signal.

Well i picked this SAFC2 up for 50 bucks off a friend of mine, i was mainly just wondering since u have experience with them on Z's. Are they good for monitering different parameters? and did u experience any problems with it F.E.- frying the ecu or damaging the motor......those are my main concerns.

I had one when I was NA it did very little since the car ran so lean anyway. I had exhaust, CAI and a intake spacer on my 2003 then I added the SAFC and I think we might have got a bit more power by leaning things out some.
