I see Branson got about twice the coverage with half the cars? WTF?
i was a little ill about that too, it's not like i didn't have enough pics for that. another thing that made me a tad on the mad side is the other article i put pictures in (goneMOAB at the bottom of the page with ZdayZ on it), they asked for 5 pictures, if i'd known it was for a 2"x2" size space, i would have only sent 1 or 2 at the most... what's the point of sending pictures in if they can't even be seen?

Done with NSM magazine. I wont bother with them for 2010. Sorry folks, we bent over backwards, heck we even paid for their travel expenses (some clubs also donated) and this is the way we are treated. This was the third strike with them. Twice prior to the event and then this. Done with them. I'm canceling my subscription.
I think they have "ghost" pages up. Nothings on them...

I havent been a fan of NSM for some time now, a number of reasons for that, but last issue was just FALE from cover to cover! I cant believe they charge as much as they do for magazine that size, it was a damn news letter! I read the entire issue from front to back in about 3 mins! The ZdayZ coverage was also the WORST!

I haven't seen the article. Now I'm thinking there's no point in driving across town to pick it up.
Were both features done by the same person? Was the NSM person active at ZdayZ or just sitting back and enjoying the resort? That is such a shame as articles like this sell the magazines! Folks love to see pics of their own cars and read about large events like this. Deflate their hopes of getting in a National Magazine and there's little chance of subscribing.
So any word on the Modified Magazine article? Hopefully they took us more seriously.

I haven't actually seen the article, I just keep hearing complaints of lack of sustance and size. The Editor of the magazine has already sent am appologetic email to me. I wont post it for public consumption yet, I still need to do a little fact finding.
Conversely the Modified article was supposed to be three pages and lots of pictures.

Agreed Bryan. Alot of people went out of their way to accomodate their attendance, and no mention of that or even a real thank you. There were two articles in the magazine, so Muramoto could have and should have at least done that.
Our club member Jesse Larrison picked him up at his hotel here in Nashville and took him to ZDayZ and back, and the other clubs stepped up too. As a Partner Club of their magazine, you'd think they'd at least mention the clubs.
And the "coverage" was so generic, you'd really never know that he was really there.

My wife has the same complaints about me regarding substance and size.
If they need photos, we can supply them all they need with releases. (I'm sure some of these guys would be happy to release their pics to the magazine) Some of these guys shot professional quality pics. Example, the HDR pics on the bridge are better than anything I've seen in in their magazine before. As for substance, shoot, we can write the bloody article.
Was there someone assigned to each magazine person for the weekend? Unless they were stranded in their resort rooms, I can't understand how they couldn't find a story or two in this event. How about the rare 280ZR that attended? Pics of the drop top cruise. 670+ RWHP out of a 350Z. A flock of GT-R's all in one location. The green widebody Z. Some of the insane Z32's. How about mentioning all the vendors who were there. After all, aren't they potential advertising customers? If I was a vendor like Forged, I'd be pissed I spent the bucks on the white GT-R and there's not a single photo of it.
Holy cripes! I couldn't swing a dead cat and not hit something worthy of mention.
Personally, if I were sent to ZdayZ to write an article for a magazine, they would have a hard time trying to edit it down to three or four pages. Too bad the magazines don't pay journalists well or I'd change careers.

for the record, i was asked to provide 5 pictures with various aspects (horizontals and squares). i did just that. it was hard to pick 5 shots only from such a large event where people could actually see what was going on. i chose 5 and confirmed them with bryan before sending them in.
p.s. i was even more pissed about the goneMOAB pics at the bottom of the page with ZdayZ on it. i paid a LOT of money to fly out there and had a great time and when i was asked for 5 images of the event i was hoping for a larger area of print, if i had known it was a 2"x2" space i would have told them to go bark up another tree. it was ridiculous. i talked with the editor dave about it and he said there was a misscommunication between him and the layout designer and we are going to work more in the future to get more space for my pictures of the upcoming events i am covering (Z Nationals and ZCON09)

Middle Tennessee Z Club
Several sponsoring clubs contributed financially to getting NSM to zdayz, MTZC went above and beyond (thanx Jesse) and actually transported Dave to and from the event as well as kept him ammused.

I gave Dave a copy of every pic that I had received from everyone at zdayz, well over 500MB of media to pic any pic he would have like to have used. pretty convenient since he didn't even bring a camera phone!

I'm going to the Z club meeting Tuesday night in Gville. I need to get my hands on a copy of this before I respond to NSM. All I can say at this point, don't be surprised if they are not back next year.
I'll even put this out there. There were many enthusiasts that went way over and above to get NSM to Zdayz. One individual deserves mentioning. Jim Corbett of ZROC offered Art a freer ound trip flight into Columbus Ohio, the Keys to his GTR, food, lodging, and pocket cash for the week. Art snubbed his nose stating the he would rather go to BZF. Nothing against BZF, but you would have to beat me with a stick to make me pass that offer up.
Upstate Z Club, Carolina Z Club, Triangle Z Club, ZROC, and ZdayZ, LLC all contributed financially to get Dave to zdayz, we covered his travel expenses. ZdayZ comped his registration, and asked nothing in return, assuming that zdayz would get coverage in NSM. Jesse Shuttled him around.
To reply to another statement zdayz or friends of zdayz have in the past submitted articles for inclusion into NSM on behalf of zdayz. What gets printed is tripe.
^^ You guys did a great job supporting the media. I can't believe the response from them. I never doubted that you guys had things covered. Just disappointed that these guys would not try to make the best of the opportunity.

Hmmm maybe was the guy was from the government... You know, imply that he'll give you everything, make you pay wheel barrels full of cash on a hope, and deliver an empty box.
