Default 07 HR vs. 06 Revup - same dyno, same day

UPDATED with overlayed dynos - post #21

Z-car garage in San Jose was having a dyno day so I figured my wife and I would get our Z's dyno'd.

I have a stock 07 with the HR engine with 9,xxx miles - 6mt

She has an 06 revup with MREV2 lower collector and 5/16ths plenum spacer and TB coolant bypass - 15,xxx miles - 6mt

Here are the graphs. They did 3 runs each. She's actually got about 5hp and 5tq more than me up to about 4500RPMs. then we are close to about 5750rpms. from there on up, is where the HR shines - it gets 25-30HP more at one point in the 6k-7krpm range. Notice the HR graph scales up another 25 HP from the rev-up graph.

I have two runs on mine. The lower one was with the A/C switched on. The higher one is with the AC switched off.

Without her mods, she would not have the low-end advantage. Interesting thing is that her Dyno looks almost identical to the revup dyno on motordyne's site.

Time for more mods - for both of us!

EDIT: BTW, the guys at z-car garage said DE's usually make between 220-240HP on their dyno.

My stock HR:

Wife's 06 revup with MREV2 lower collector, 5/16ths plenum spacer, and TB coolant bypass:

Interesting how close her power curve is to this old dyno from Motordyne's site. That means consistent, repeatable gains from the MREV2 and 5/16ths spacer.

The HR motor is strong. Looks like its making the same amount of peak torque and more HP than the revup.

Looks right about where HR's should dyno at. The HR really shines up top versus DEs. My HR with nismo exhaust dynoed at 269whp.

Don't forget it's a modded revup... a non-modded revup would have a max torque of about 220 on this dyno. That MREV2 and spacer adds about 18lb/ft of torque in the midrange. It's a must-have mod combo for any revup.

Thanks. Nice comparison.

If you could overlay the two, even better.

awesome post! now you should race your wife and post that for us too . or take both cars to the track and get times for both with you driving. dyno #'s are impressive but 1/4 mile times would impress us more haha.

any reason, why they stopped the dyno at 7200 for the HR? You're not going to see much gains with the drop off, but its nice to see the entire curve.

Speed limiter maybe?

Nice, we have 20+ more whp on a modded rev up? So much for that "6 hp" difference.

Speed limiter, plus the engine begins a soft shutdown at 7300 RPMs and it dramatically reduces power so that the engine does not slam into that 7500 RPM cutoff.

So they said...

I know we should race... But I suck at launching this car.

I'd hate to loose to her too

I have challenged her to an auto-cross race though...

just do it from a 10 mph roll in first gear. no need to launch. I think that would be a good way to take the driver part out of it and ensure that the better car wins. because that's what we want to know right? besides even if you do lose you should be proud of your wife for knowing how to drive

Very nice post, thank you
I had a Rev-up before I got my HR.
Now I have a basic idea of where I am at versus the 06.

This is very cool my 91 S13 Fastback is going to enjoy its 2007 VQ35HR heart transplant. Oh and in case any are wondering yes I plan on picking up a 350Z. Having owned 10 240Z's its hard not to get back into the Z family with the 350.

She def knows how to drive. We were on some backroad a couple weekends ago and I took some corners at balls-out speed. Looked in my rear view mirror and she was right on my a$$

Nice!
