Default Clutch pedal noise

I found the thread related to clutch popping sound on an 07/08 but since there was no definite answer/cause I'm asking about this again.

My 08 Touring is now making this same noise. It seems to be coming from the clutch pedal because I hear it every time (most times) I shift and as the clutch pedal approaches the top of its travel (right before I take my foot off of it). Hard to explain other than it sounds like a “Tin can” popping sound…

This is not a sound that is coming as the car is just going down the road. It is definitely not a transmission problem..It is definitely coming from the pedal..

Has anyone found a definite answer to this problem?

You can adjust the clutch to make it go away. Thats how I got the sound, but it doesn't bother me as much as the long clutch movement.

I got this too. With me mech eng background, I'm sure if I had a clutch assy in front of me (sans car) I could figure out why it happens on the Z. But Mr.Elite says it happens on all rwd cars makes me think it has something to do with gear engagement and driveshaft inter relationships... Thing is, from the sound, I have to agree with op. I'm convinced it's strictly pedal related.

i got a weird click in my clutch pedal too depending on how i press it. If i put some pressure upwards towards it while releasing, it makes a slight click sound. Pretty sure it's the pedal assembly.

not sure what it is. Gonna be the 2nd time I've taken it in to replace a pedal. First time my accelerator was sticky.

Now, I wonder what this is w/ the clutch. Take it in and see what they say. I gotta do this soon too before my warranty is up.

I had this slowly develop over a year in my 08. I didn't have any noise when I bought it, but after it developed over the year and got loud enough and started to annoy me, I took it into the dealer and they eventually re-greased the clutch assembly and it fixed it. You could probably also do this yourself rather than taking it into the dealer.

I have the same noise. You can also feel it in your foot too when it pops.

So the solution is to re-grease the assembly?

I've got it to, and yes, it's definitely pedal related... I get it at the very end, if I depress and then release in a smooth synchronized motion I get no noise, however if I hold and go through the friction point slower (first/second gear shifts) I do hear it.

More thoughts?

I have the same problem; in addition to that there is an external poping noise that my mechanic is unable to reproduce. It sounds like my CV joint it out, but 2 shops have given all the components a clean bill of health. One of those shops specializes in Z cars

i had the same probelm whereby it pops near the top as i release the clutch. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the whole clutch assemble under warranty.

+1 I have that same issue too - on my 07 - driving me nuts. I'll have to take it apart eventually and lube it.

I hate trying to explain these things to the "mechanics" at the dealer.

I can tell you exactly what the problem is. The popping is from the spring that pushes the clutch pedal back up. The spring is binding because the clutch pedal adjustment has deviated from stock setup. This is what happens if you adjust your clutch pedal, so don't do it. I did it on my G and now I'm glad I don't drive that car cuz it was dumb and I was never able to get it back to stock adjustment. My dealer replaced the pedal (including spring) because they didn't know it was my fault... though the popping would always come back after a few months.
