This Past Friday i went to the track and as usual i had the clutch problem like always. Well i discovered a new problem and it coming from the clutch(the one in the transmission). Each time i would shift it would take a while for the rpm's to get to the right rpm of what clutch speed is,if that makes sense. Either way i have video and ill let that explain what I'm trying to get across.
What i am thinking is that the clutch is going out but the car is only two years old and i learned stick on the z,but i rarely burned the clutch when i was learning. The only time when the clutch got burned the Sxxt out of when i first when to the track and i discovered the problem of the z with the clutch problems. Well when it first happened the clutch got really burnt up to the point were it smelled badly in the car. Well finding out the stealership said it was because the clutch line wasn`t capped. So im thinking if i go to the stealship and ask if my clutch is going out and they say yes. I want to ask if i can get a new clutch because of a defect in the clutch line not being capped.
I know that stealership doesnt cover wear and tear parts but sense it was cause by a warrented part could they give me a new oem clutch replacement because of pre wear and tear on the clutch??

you are wearing down your clutch at the drag strip... mine is doing the same when it's hot on the road course and I'm waiting for somebody to test the exedy stage 2...
I'm NA too.
I don't see any defect in your clutch... you're beating it up and it's going to fail at the end. It's just slipping because it's worn down.

I had the same problem on my 2005 350z whenever I went to the drag strip. I think it had about 30k miles when it started to slip. It would only behave like that on the drag strip but never during daily driving.
I think you might be pissing into the wind if you try to get the dealership to replace your clutch under warranty. Like you said, it's a wear & tear item.

The acrid smell is just pressure plate material burning against the flywheel. Sort of like brake pad material. Does not necessarily mean that you need a new clutch.
However I think you should look at a aftermarket clutch-flywheel combination.
You learned stick on the Z... bad move. And just because you can't smell the clutch burning doesn't mean you didn't cause pre-mature wear because of that factor either.
yeah these factory clutches are weaksauce.
- hey man let me know when you go to the track again. Its finally "cooled" down into the high 80s lol.I never got to hear your car with test pipes either.

O, hey man ya i will most defiantly give you a hit up.. I wont be going this friday but the next friday if everything goes well because im getting new rims and tires and my friend with the rx-8 is get header back exhaust on his car.
Well no when i went to the track this last time i never got any spell but ya my friend said some times you cant smell it. I was just saying because the line wasnt capped it cause premature wear and tear. Ya, it funny dd is fine, clutch doesnt slip i think, but only at the track. Well i guess ill have to wait for a tune and get a new clutch soon .

the heat you build up in your clutch and flywheel at the track is very hard on those components... driving "hard" on the road isn't even close to that... unless you drag race at every stop light.
mine is perfect on the road... is just slipping a little bit on the track after some sessions.
probably during the winter won't slip at all. ( 40K miles )
the problem with HR clutches is that you risk to bust the CSC with an upgraded pressure plate.... so far looks like JWT is busting CSC, OS giken (twin disk) busted one CSC and nobody has reported anything with an exedy (that looks like has the "closest to stock" pressure plate)
my suggestion is.. change also the CSC and the hard lines (some debris could be stuck there) with the revised ones... 120/130$ of safety if you change your clutch.

O, man im so glad i looked back at this thread. Because im about to get the jwt clutch and fly wheel. I didnt know they were blowing the csc(which i totally had a brain fart on and cant remember what it means ). I saw the exedy and it a really good price but i want something that is going to hold my power now and future mods. I also go to the track a feel times threw out the year, so it going to need to hold up to the track as well.
Man, i feel like a real nub when it comes to understanding parts like clutch and coil overs, just which it was like a computer nice and straight forward. This does this and that does that. High the number, faster it is lol.
Well any help from the forum would be most appreciated like always, thank you.
the CSC is the concentric slave cylinder. some car in 2007 got a "defective / weak" unit and nissan replaced that with a newer, maybe stronger, unit in 2008.

as far as i know, a CSC is a type of slave cylinder that is located in the middle of the bellhousing, rather than off to the side and using a lever (clutch fork)
either way, the slave cylinder pushes the cutch apart (open), and the spring fork of the clutch itself tries to push it togeather.
CSCs are apparently pretty common these days, though i never heard about them until i heard 350z guys talking about them.
i dont know what about them makes them so prone to failure, but a lot of cars have CSCs these days without issues.
EDIT: aftermarket clutches require more force to separate, of course, which only makes things worse. ill assume that the pressure can sometime be too much for these things to hold, at which point they burst and your clutch pedal goes to the floor without doing anything...
hopefully the 08's will prove to have the problem fixed, seeing as how my transmission is on '08...
oh, and computers are just as confusing, higher isnt always faster. its just the clock speed. a slow clock speed that can execute an instruction in 2 cycles is way faster than a fast clock speed that takes 10 cycles. take it from a CS major.
or google "processor benchmarking" and find out for youself haha.
