Default Bad crank position sensor?

So, 11 month old, 8600 miles 08 350Z. Driving down the freeway and out of nowhere the rpm's start fluttering (cruising about 65-70 in 6th). Giving it any gas results in the car bucking like I'm trying to take off from a light and didn't know how to drive stick or something. End up towed to the dealer after getting it off the freeway and they call today and say the crank sensor is bad (threw a code and popped the SES light). I saw there had been a recall on a handful of 03's for this sensor but nothing since. Is this something to be overly concerned about on a "new" 08?

I'd say no. It sounds like you're under warranty and I haven't seen a lot of complaints on here about crank position sensors.

Warranty will take care of it, I know of a few people on the forum that had this problem. There's no recall on it though

Ok thanks. Just looking for reassurance I guess. Since the recall was so many models/years ago it just seemed really odd to me for something like this to happen with not even 9000 miles on the car.

Its a part that has a hard to manufacture semiconductor in it. Manufacturing defects will happen so its possible its just that.
