Default New 08 HR Mod List

I used to have an 08 nismo (some *** hat cut me off and it got totaled) so I'm not new to Z's but I had an Evo 9 in between so I'll have to readjust lol.

I live in IL now so I'll have to find a tuner out here so I can do a before and after mods to see my actual gains....

08 HR cloth interior etc... Believe it's the lightest model at 3300 pounds and some change.

I'm going for NA power due to DD and gf who doesn't like broken race cars ("Can I borrow your jeep bae" xD).... Evo broke all the time. Might consider E85 because it's readily available in IL at almost every gas station. Assuming tuners offer dual map tunes like they do on evos (93 and e85)

Anyways what I've got so far...

I like the idea of PPE long tube headers but the install time just doesn't seem worth it to me...

To start:

- Art pipes

- XYZ resonated y pipe (no resonater option for tomei)

- Tomei expreme exhaust w/ bumper tuck

- Injen dual intakes because they come with mounting brackets vs the stillen intakes....

- tune and dyno

Maybe later depending on how I feel about power beforehand

- 4.08's

-Ported upper and lower intake manifold

- Tomei 264 cams (do you need springs and retainers for these cams?)

- PPE long tube headers and just sell art pipes... (I believe long tube eliminates the cats/test pipe?)

Then most likely dual map tune on e85 and 93 assuming that's an option because I did that on my Evo.

I'm happy with 300 whp as a daily driver but could use more torque... Will post all dynos and installs to this thread....

Looking for input ! Thanks guys

That's a good start. If you have cruise control, you can use up to 5 maps using Osiris Uprev. 1 map being E85, run it close to empty to the gas station and switch to Map 2 for 93. The rest of the 3 maps can be set on valet mode, security mode and 2-step launch control.

You won't hit 300whp, but the list isn't bad.

Also, you can't have ppe longs and art pipes.

I wouldn't worry about an intake unless you get a boner when you pop your hood, the gains are a joke. Just use drop ins.

I hit 315+whp on E85 on Full bolt ons. You can definitely get close to it or over 300 on 93 CAI / Exhaust / Headers and a good tune.

It could have easily gone over 320 if I had a tuner on site. My timing was sleeping mid-range and went rich below 13.1

Is with the GTR mani & E85?

Whats with the weird dip @ 6k (it looks like the powerband of the VQ35DE motors)? Are you sure that wasnt a knock or ping?

Go E85 for torque. I gained 160 lb/ft just switching to E85 with like .7 psi more boost over 91 octane, granted your NA, but I'd imagine you could probably still see some solid TQ gains.

the solid line is the HP, the dashed line is torque. he made good power, the above bolded items helped him achieve that. most people dont go to the extent that he did

type of dyno could also lead some variables.... dynojet, dyno dynamics, mustang...etc

Stock ported lower and upper. I'm not really sure why it dips like that, when we tried doing 4th gear that dip goes away. But we stayed on 5th b/c it's 1:1.

Dynocom, similar to dynojet. I was still on Stock ported lower and upper manifold. My tuner and I are still tuning the GTR manifold via E-Tune.

You think I can get to 300 whp with drop ins, the exhaust setup mentioned in the OP and tune? Or the headers are actually beneficial ? I read that stock HR headers are very nice.

It will be close. I can't remember who it was in a group on FB, but the guy dyno'd around 305ish switching from drop ins to Z1 CAI.

I dyno'd 289 on Stillen CAI, Art pipe and Motordyne TDX2 on 93 E-tuned.

315 on PPE headers, TDX2, 3" CAI, GTR injectors on E85 E-tuned.

The car can squeeze out more if I had a tuner on site.

I was reading that the Cai on the HR is hardly worth it, but if you're saying it actually is benificial I'll get one. I'm guessing the posts I read are just referring to without a tune Cai aren't worth it.

Regardless I already ordered Art pipes and xyz resonated y pipe. Supposed to come tomorrow. I will soon get the tomei exhaust next and decide if I want drop ins or Injen dual intakes...

Does anyone know of 350z tuners in the Chicago area ? There were so many to choose from for the Evo ! I can't believe I'm having trouble locating one for the z.

John, what kind of torque were you making with the two hp numbers you mentioned ?

Un-tuned, drop-ins and CAI are barely noticeable in gains I believe.
If you are going to be tuned, I recommended going with the 3" CAI.
http://www.administrationtuning.com/...t-p/hrmaf3.htm

They have multiple independent results including me, that the 3" will get you more power vs other CAI.

- 93 I made 289.27whp @253.03tq

- E85 I made 315whp @289+tq

- GTR manifold I made 301tq, but lost a bit of power (Final results still pending, currently E-Tuning).

Thanks for reporting, interested in the results of the GTR manifold, I thought this mod would be beneficial just to boosted applications.
