I prefer a one engine size for the Z model. Fck with the Mustang (v6/v8), lexus IS, etc.

One engine size with other trim in luxury items.

no no no, their going to put in a twin turboed V10, everybody knows that, and it's going to be a 680Z and it's also going to have the GTR's 7-speed dual clutch transmission and an upgraded version 3.2 flux capacitor, and a rear spoiler that automatically raises up after it reaches 180mph, and thats just the base model.

No, we're saying that they'll make one Z, most with a 370Z badge and one with a 500Z badge. Nissan stopped calling it the "350Z" and started calling it the "Z" to avoid just this kind of problem.

^^^Nah don't like that Idea, we'd end up like BMW with all these useless series.

It's either you like it or not...or wait six or so year for the re-make...

+1 Nissan's concepts can sometimes look pretty wonkey..

But hell other than the one leaked nissan pic. The rest are just(non nissan) PS crap..

IMO a V8 would be bad ***! a big step up of performance, and of course the more power, that also means better suspension etc.etc. I would be inline to get one ASAP! it seems everybody wants to be the underdog that would smoke faster cars because of their "mods" etc.etc. Yeah everybody wants that nastolgic story. So why not go with V8 and start smoking those muscle/exotic cars? and still be a reliable, street legal, DD car... I would love to see the day that it would happen...

If Nissan called it just the "Z" then they would scrap the 350Z badge off it. Sure, when you look on the website they have it listed as "Z". But it's still named the 350Z.

i personally think a V8 is a slap in the face to the Z name and a sell out move

I like the Z to stick with the V6. In my opinion it's no different then when the Z prototype was looking a V4, don't change tradition.

1 engine with different trim levels, i'd rather see a Turbo version then a V8

No, they're scrapping the naming convention. We'll never stop calling them by their name, but Nissan's marketing department sees it otherwise.

All i know is i wish i could get my hands on that new 5.0 liter V8 in the FX50 and shove it into my 03 Z. If you havent seen that fx50 funs a 13.6 quarter mile!!! So just think what about 1000 pounds less than that would do!!!!

I like, especially the roof line.. the V8 may be late availability or something... I'd jump on the v8 if it was balanced with handling and not crazy expensive

THe may put that in the next "Z" nismo. I think that would make sense. Plenty people complained that their nismo didnt come with power boost over normal Zs.

They may advertise it as "Z" but it's still tagged 350Z. Still has the badge 350Z. So no, they haven't dropped the naming system.

Sarcasm noted. My point is that the Z car is now how Nissan wants us to see the car. The same is true of the G. Even if we use the numbering convention internally in the community to discern which G we are talking about, such as "G35" and "G37", it is still the G. In Japan it is the Skyline. Whether or not the badge says 250 or 350GT, it's still a Skyline. When Nissan decided that they wanted to shift us from using the numbers, we should have taken notice. The question we should ask ourselves is, "Why?" The answer could be one of/or two things. The first is that Nissan doesn't want to continue making larger and larger engines for the Z car. Eventually, we may see a jump to a smaller engined Z. It would be a marketing nightmare to go from a 370Z to a 250Z. Were they to position a V8 model, it would still be under the Z name. The V8 model would have a different badge, just as the 250 and 350 Skylines have different badges, but it would still be marketed as a Z. So while we use it to discern the different models, and will likely always, it makes no difference.

If you don't like the answer I've provided, consider this: if Nissan is going to include a 500 trim on the next Z to keep up with the competition, they aren't going to let a naming convention stand in their way.

Hmmm. It appears that while I was replying, you've decided to make your post a little more beligerent. That's fine. But you misused the word 'ignorance'. Let me help you.

Main Entry: ig·no·rance
Pronunciation: \ˈig-n(ə-)rən(t)s\
Function: noun
Date: 13th century
: the state or fact of being ignorant : lack of knowledge, education, or awareness

Ignorance would be not taking note (being aware) of Nissan's changing their marketing strategy for the car you love so much.

Have a nice day.
