All this talk of a Z with an 8 is old news. 440, 500z, 850,000,000Z ... all old news! We will see. I, for one, do not think there will be a V8 Z. Let the Z be the small tossable dogfighter of a sports car. Let the Z fight the tank-like lower V8's (Stang, Maro, Challenger, etc), and the dog-fighters (Cayman, Z4, TT, etc). And Los350z, the Z was not to be a Boxter fighter; it was to be a Cayman fighter. That is what the test Z has been seen running with.
Nissan: Focus on dominating the upper market with the GT-R and the middle market with the Z.

A v8 Z was confirmed by nissan head a few months ago as a limited run model. It was a published interview in several rags. Ill see if I can find it.
Edit:
The qoute "Best Car spoke with the Z34's Chief of Production, Shinjiro Yukawa, and he revealed that a special edition model is being considered that would significantly raise the performance of the new Z by fitting a V8 underhood. "
looking for original publication

one thing i don't like about nissans idea with the z is that its pretty much a step behind the G... what i mean about that is G37 has the 3.7.... 370 z i think its pretty much safe to say the z is going to be sporting the current engine thats in the G.. what i would like to see is a difference in the two.. theres the obvious luxury and sport difference... back seat/ 2 seater difference ..and weight difference... but in performance I would like the z to come with a stock tt like the 300zx did years ago... the 300zx is the fastest Z weve ever gotten...and to be honest i think it will be a good move for them considering many different car companies looking into turbo systems for power rather than engine size..don't get me wrong here guys... if the 370z looks as good as the 350 i would look into seeing if i could get one..
