Hmm, just picked up a set of gts, and wonder if they required special lug nuts from volks or 350z oem lug nuts be ok?

To my knowledge, only the Volk GT-C require special Rays inverted lug nuts (small diameter to fit in the bolt hole of the wheel.)

GT-S uses a "conventional" lug nut (30-deg taper/acorn style) BUT... not sure if the 21mm head OEM lug nuts will fit well in the narrow confines of the bolt hole "tunnel"; that is, the nut will fit but a traditional socket may be tight. I would suggest aftermarket lugs - Project Kics, Rays, your choice. If you buy Rays, sets will include the smaller, 19mm deep socket required.

I used some inexpensive tapers to affix my Volks (SF-Win) to my car initially and was NOT comfortable with how they worked so swapped for Rays when a set came up for grabs from a fellow forum member.

Another caveat.... if you do opt for the smaller head tuner lugs, make sure you carry the socket, key lock and appropriate removal device in case of flats as the OEM lug wrench will no longer fit.

Cheers,

Mic

Mine came brand new with lug nuts that were different from oem.
I ended up using project kicks anyway

Hmm another question related to gts wheels? My gts wheel center is magnesium blue, which at am not crazy about at all. And I was quote $1000 just to powdercoated the wheel centers?? Just remove the centers and powdercoated them and put them back on the barrels? ?? My question is if the price is about right???

No, that seems ridiculous to me.

If you take the wheel faces/centers off yourself (disassemble) and take those to a powdercoater you should be paying ~400-600ish give or take?

That means 1000 sounds about fair market price. That's just crazy, consider how much I paid for those

Maybe in NC, but where I live you would be a fool to pay that much for a simple powder-coating job. The wheels are easy to disassemble

Yah man, found another powdercoater and of if i disassemble them and bring the centers to him will only cost me 200 bucks for sandblast and powdercoated coat them. Much more attractive number I guess

Ok, got my wheels back and about to assemble the faces back on to the barrels. But I don't know how much torque is needed? Also do I need thread locker, something like loctite on the screws when I tightening them?

Thanks in advance guys

Hope you marked which face went with each barrel, if not you may have issues getting a smooth ride out of them. Multi piece wheels are all trued once they are assembled and each will have its own characteristics as a result of this.

I actually did marked them. But I don't think it's serious though. 2 faces and 2 barrels for front and rear. Worst case just swap them back
