Haha so much hate in here for plastidip. Makes sense though.

And they are already flat black from the previous owner, just poorly done and faded.

I want 2006+ or 370z sport rims but hard to find for a decent price and with good tires.

I GhettoDiped my wheels with Blaze Orange; it took a while to get enough coats to get more even coverage.

Those black ones in the thread with red lip look amazing. I'll do that!

They're actually not OEM wheels and to answer your questions, they turned out fine and yes, they are worth the effort. At least now I know how Plasti Dip behaves during the painting process. The color was so bright that I had to wear sunglasses during the painting process. Learned it the hard way, I was seeing spots after applying a coat without sunglasses.

Did you put a base coat of gunmetal grey?

Helps with coverage, especially white or bright colors.

Default Powdercoated OEM Wheels, Gloss Black

Hello guys. After reading a lot in here, seeing a lot of pictures and thinking about it for a while, I finally decided to powder coat my OEM 2006 wheels with a Gloss Black finish.

Also put Nismo stickers on, yeah, yeah, I know, they got nothing Nismo on them but I wanted them to look similar to those on the 2015 GT-R Nismo.

So here are my results:

What do you think? Some spacers to come, any suggestion?

Wheels look good but please remove the stickers, they're not Nismo wheels and we don't just stick that logo on just anything ***** nilly around here. Its either a Nismo part or it's not, Some 15fr 25rr spacers and a drop and it'll look real nice.

Default Painting My Wheels

Ok so I have an 08 350z that is pearl white. I have painted my emblems a gunmetal grey and am soon to have gunmetal grey door handles. I want to paint my wheels and i have been playing around with 2 colors. Gunmetal grey and a halfway between gold and bronze. I am posting pictures of some photoshops of a few cars to get some feedback. Is it too much, too over the top, does it work? I want your guys/gals feedback.

Pictures didn't work for me but if the wheels are stock, I'd say leave them alone and buy real wheels. On the subject posted though, you can't go wrong with gunmetal on white and I love gold/bronze wheels lol. I'd say the gunmetal off of the nismo rims would be perfect!

The gold looks extremely tacky, the gunmetal looks good though.

I guess its typical seeing the retail value has been taking a dive lately. They have a Passion for modding with no funds. So they do stupid stuff to their car. Over accessorize. Paint their handles, emblems, wheels with rubber spray paint. Think it looks cool. It doesn't. It look cheap.
I love your attitude. I've only been back in the Japanese sports car game for a year, and I thought ricing out cars had kind of gone away, but I guess not. I sure don't see giant spoilers on cars like I did 10 years ago. SHAMING WORKS PEOPLE! Anyway, the thought I had about this plasti-dip thing, if I understand it correctly, is that it would be a good way to try out a look before committing to painting or powdercoating. It peels off, right? I thought that's what I read in this thread... Aaaand I know this was an old discussion, soooo goodbye!

Default Anyone have a Z with these colored OEM rims?

Hello all,

I'm getting my rims re-surfaced and re-painted, and I'm looking for a nice gun metal. With a quick google search, I had no luck finding the rims on a Z but I did find them on an Infiniti. Although this is on the wrong car, this is the exact color I am looking at getting done. Does anyone else have their Z's rims looking like this? Also, I have a Solar Orange 2007 350z with the stock OEM rims that are featured in the picture I linked. What are your guys opinions, and do you think this would go well with the rest of the car? I want a nice clean, not too obnoxious look.

Thanks,
Justin

That's just the GTR gun metal grey. Look at GTR OEM 20"s.
