I'm throwing this exact setup on my car on Thursday, so just being extra careful.
Your math is off , 5mm shorter and 1.25mm shorter would make the tires have a difference of 3.75mm from the stock stagger in height. Almost completely insignificant.

Whoooooooops - my mistake. I only subtracted .25... Anyway, that's good to know. Time for me to work on my math skills.

I've got 4x 18x9.5 +26 wheels and 2x 265/40/18 tires, anyone recommend any tire combinations? at the moment I'm planning on getting two more 265/35/18 or 275/40/18.
I love the meaty tire look

Put that 265/35 up front and 265/40 rear.
OR
265/40 front and 275/40 rear.

Will a 285/35-18 square setup work on stock 2003 Performance trim suspension? Im thinking about 9.5 +35mm or 9.75 +20mm wheels. This is mainly for track use.

I know a guy who runs the Hankook RS3 on 9.5 +15 all around with 285/35-18, so the 9.75+20 would be you best bet.

For the track, pay the extra few $$ and grab a set of Rota wheels, they are track proven and you can get a set of 18x10 all around +20 to +25 range. They are a much better wheel and you need the width for the 285.

I run 285/35 all around on 10.5 inch wheels.

What size spacers, if any, would you run on a square setup of 18x10 +25?

Probably a 10mm spacer out back, all depending on camber settings.

They will fit up front and you mmay want a 5 to 10mm spacer out back at some point.

Sorry to revive an older thread, it just seemed a good place to ask the question without making a new post for a similar topic.

I am looking to have a second set of tires for my daily driver so that I can take it to the PDS track days and get a little more edge on the course. I'd like to go with a square setup because it will remove some of the cars understeer and will allow me to rotate the tires for increased tire life.

I am a little worried that if I go too big, that the car will feel foreign and will feel like its oversteering too much (even if it is just more neutral).

Current Setup:
2005 350Z Performance
Front: 18x8 +30, 225/45/18
Rear: 18x8 +30, 245/45/18

By taking that info (and using the rule of 3%) I have come up with some options and would like some feedback. I don't want to drop a ton of money on wheels and tires to realize that I did not do my research.

Option 1 (basically a square setup of the back tire size)
Front: 18x8 +30, 225/45/18
Rear: 18x8 +30, 245/45/18
This gives like 15-20% more contact in the front and no change in the back.

Option 2
Front: 18x9 +??, 255/40/18
Rear: 18x9 +??, 255/40/18
This gives like 25-30% more contact in the front and 5-10% in the back.

Option 3
Front: 18x9.5 +??, 265/40/18
Rear: 18x9.5 +??, 265/40/18
This gives like 30-40% more contact in the front and 15-20% in the back.

Option 4 (huge tires IMO)
Front: 18x10 +??, 275/40/18
Rear: 18x10 +??, 275/40/18
This gives like 45-50% more contact in the front and 25-30% in the back.

So I could use a vote of confidence for any of these options.. and I could use some guidance for what offsets I should use. What about spacers?

I know its alot of info, but any help would be great.

Track setup
17x9.5 or 17x10 +15 to +25ish front and rear with 275/40-17
or
18x9.5 to 18x10 same offset as above with 275/35-18 front and rear.

Whens in these sizes are affordable, Rota would be my low end , Enkei would be prefured IMO.

MB Battle in 17x9.5 +15 will also be a great choice, very cheap.

You can also run a 255/40 front and rear on the 18x9.5 combo if you don't want the wider rubber. Sizing is usually dictated by the brand, not all brands offer the size you want.

So, if I get some wheels that are 18x9.5 with a 15-25 offset, I could go up to the 275/35/18s.... So I could take smaller by using 255/40/18/s first. That way I can iterate my way up in tire size as I spend more time on the track.

Sorry to bump this up I recently damaged one of my wheel and going to change the lip of the damaged wheel. My setup is Work Meister S1 19" 9.5 +24 and 10.5 +23. The 9.5 one is damage and can't find another to replace it. So i found 2 Work Meister S1 lips which is 3.5". Replacing the 9.5( 2.5" lip) with these 3.5" lips will make my front setup become 10.5 +12. So my setup will be 19" 10.5 +12 in front and 19" 10.5 +23 rear, which is a square setup. Will the front clear the factory Brembos? Also what's the best tires combo for street DD? I'm moderately drop with JIC FLTA-2. Thanks in advance for any advice.

If the 9.5s cleared Brembos then these should as well...you gain a total of 25MM with width and offset and that *should* compensate for increase of 25MM in Lip. However, these will stick out another inch up front. As far as tires...265/35's might work there...even 275/35.
