With stock 18s the fender heights are about 1" apart, according to the FSM.

I will agree though, with even fender heights the rear looks a bit saggy.

Edit - Youre speaking of gap, not height. I digress.

Fender height yes, it has a rake in fender height from the factory. Then it also has a different size fender opening (front to back and arch ) is bigger in the rear for the taller tires. The car actually looks silly with shorter tires on the rear, even when lowered or slammed.

Terrasmak...Thanks for all the input...!

Just checked ,i can only get this size locally in Nitto INVO (within my budget)
For my squared 19x9.5" Et 20 - Squared setup.

F- 255-35-19
R -285-35-19

As per the Tire size calculator
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

The difference in front to rear is 3.2%. Which i believe is good to keep the VCD happy?

I can get the rear to sit bit more flush with a spacer.

Any thoughts?

Run a 275/35-19 out back , it will not be bulged on the 9.5 inch wheel and let you sit better against the fender

The combo on the 275-35-19 rears is turning out to be almost $180 more as i have to go to a different brand. (On a budget)

I can get 255-35-19 & 285-35-19 in Nitto INVO. (For my square, setup of 19x9.5" Et 20) At a 3.2% variation at rear tyre height. Hope it will not trigger the VDC etc.???? 3% seems to be the max rule.

Tried to search a lot on this forum for this combo together. I get 9.5" front & 9.5" rear reference but on differnt cars. Everyone is running staggered with 10.5" rear. (I cannot get a staggerd set locally only 9.5" ET 20 squared)

Anyone with this setup on one car.???

Anything over 3% will trigger the VDC light. I would stick with a 275/35/19 setup on the rear.

Alright guys, just picked up 4 18x9.5 wheels and I'm about to pickup some tires. I want 275s all the way around but can't decide if I want to do 275/35 F and 275/40 R or 275/35 all the way around or 275/40 all the way around. I'd be able to rotate the tires diagonally (nitto invos are non-directional) if I went same height but don't know if it will look funny

Input?

I love the invo tires ,but the Z really needs tires that can be flopped inside to outside. Look into hankook V12 instead.

Next , the 275/35 out back is just to short of a tire and looks awful IMO. For a performance street setup , I would do 275/35 front and 275/40 rears. I actually have that combo for mine in the garage.

Thank you! That's literally what I needed to hear... So you don't think it would be beneficial to be able to rotate diagonally? Instead you'd just rotate across by dismounting and remounting tires (the v12s aren't inside/outside specific, right?)?

And as for the invos vs v12s - I've been trying to figure out which one and every thread has a huge tug-o-war and never comes to a conclusion. I won't be upset with the hankooks, right?

I think I will go with the 40 rear and 35 front if rotating diagonally isn't worth it.

If you just need a good street tire with long life go with the V12. If you want more grip for occasional autoX or fun days and can sacrifice some longevity go with the Invo. I've done quite well in the local autoX events (fun stuff, nothing super competitive) with the Invos. There is some left to be desired in order to get faster which is why next season I'll be running something stickier that's devoted to the track/autoX, but the Invo is still good enough there.

You can flip the v12. they are not inside/outside specific. I had a bunch of happy customers with the V12. I am almost guarantee you that you will be happy with the v12

Exactly what I have. With Invo's they look really fat at the rear on 18" but I love it because the Z corners a lot better now.

Default Square Fitment

I know there are a lot of tire/ wheel fitment questions, but even with searching I haven't really found much conclusive information. I'd like to go 18x9.5 +25 with 265/40 all around. Car is not lowered, but I wanted to know if this would fit without rolling or rubbing.

Thanks

Check the square fitment thread. I have 18x10.5 +15 265/35/18 pretty low and no rubbing. You can fit without rolling as well. I had my car tucking the rear rim and no roll. It was close though.

YOU will be fine, and you do not want 265/35 on your car as the other mentioned.

Do you have VDC? No issues?

He has 275/35 front and 275/40 rear, as far as VDC is concerned everything is good.

275/35 is something like 5mm shorter than stock front and 275/40 is about 1.25mm shorter than stock rear so the difference in size between the front/rear is 4.75mm greater than the stock difference (pulling all of this from my head so a few of the numbers might be +/- 1mm) so I was wondering if that would effect anything.

I'm throwing this exact setup on my car on Thursday, so just being extra careful.
