Looking to purchase tires today..What to get?
I usually just buy whatever-I-can-find-on-craigslist used crappy tires, but now I have some money in my pocket, so I want to buy some max perf or ultra high perf tires..
My car : completely stock 2003 Touring w/ 245/45 18R(Rear) and 225/45 18R(Front) - stock 18in wheels.
Car is my daily driver, lots of freeway driving, I live in the city, and I am a higher spirited driver. Rarely rains where I live so im looking for some summer tires with a decent tread rating... (maybe around 250-350?)
I have heard about people getting wider tires than what their wheel requires, but is it going to negatively affect performance?? It looks cool but I dont want to have any uneven wearing, you know? What size would you recommend for a moderate/safe wider tire? Or should I be a good boy and just stay within factory specs?
Im looking to spend a max of $150 per tire..
Also, is it better to buy my own tires and bring my shop my old wheels to install new tires?? OR Just have my shop order the tires and do everything for me? Whats the cheapest route?
Hoping to purchase today!!

However, you really didn't say how you use your tires.... dual purpose, daily driver street & highway. Also, do you drive in wet weather a lot.... or snow... or ?????
The proper recommendation can ONLY be made knowing all these factors. Saying you're a "high spirited driver" doesn't take into account environmental factors. For example, you do NOT want a Max Performance tire in an environment that sees snow. Likewise, I personally don't need all season because I have two AWD vehicles so.... point is, you have to take that all into account.
Best thing to do is go to tirerack.com and sort through using your criteria and you'll come up with a lot of good choices in your price and usage range.
If you're still interested in my *CURRENT* recommendations (in the Max Perf or Ultra High Perf categories only), go here: https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-...l#post10622404
I say "current" because these are what I happen to have on my diff sets of Z33 wheels NOW. Changes frequently - with every tire iteration on the market.
Good luck.

Now again, I point to a real money saver - that amazingly matches performance with any of these - Sumitomo HTRZ-3 in stock 18 sized setup. 225/245. Read any of my posts here and see I've been singing their praise forever. (Surprisingly, as the HTRZ-2 is junk!)
If you read my posts on driving (and great drives), you'll know that I expect a LOT from my rubberized links to the road and these have never let me down by letting me overcook 'em. But if you're not comfortable with the suspiciously low price, the ones above will suit you.
Go with the BFGs and report on 'em.

According to BFGoodrich specs, they do not offer the Comp-2 in a 265/45-18. You could go with a 40-series tire (255/40 front and 265-40-18 rear), but you'll be slightly under the recommended rim width for both front and rear stock alloys, according to BFG.

Good god i hope u havnt had that car since 2003. Im sorry but i have to say this is a noob thread from the original post to all of the replies. the z is a very impractical car. Why dont you know about tire sizing??
265.will fit a stupid stock REAR wheel. All the listed tires are garbage and are made for poorly modified hondas.
Im not going to.help you any more than saying 200$ is the least you can spend if you.want to 'spiritley' drive a z.
Research and learn stuff please.

What ab ignorant post that contain no valueble information what so ever.
As far what what tires to get, depends on your budget and your power level. A stock 350z isnt going to need the same tire as a twin turbo 700hp 350z. Personally, i like for stock wheels, 255s are good enough. Not like we have that much power to start with. As for which brand, thats up to your wallet.

Stock wheels are great for stock sized tires, especially when dealing with 18x8 all around.
Best performance option is 245/40-18 front and 245/45-18 or 255/49-18 rear.

so much fail in this post, go back to your moms basement and continue your pokemon game. if you would read, the op joined in 2014, so i would be willing to bet that he has not had it more than a year. so me running a 275 and 255 was made for a honda huh, as many would say that is a good combo to run. it sounds like you are the noob (looks at join date, yep fooking noob). unless you have something helpful to say, keep your low testosterone rants to yourself
