Can I sue my local NTB?
Hey,
Last night my local National Tire and Battery (NTB) replaced my leaky valve stem for my right passenger tire. I bought the replacement stem myself, they quoted me $12, and when I came back they said it was easy so its free. Really cool I thought. Today when the sun was out, because last night it was dark, I took a look at their job and noticed they made a lot of scratches and chips in my painted rims (Enkei RPF1). Wtf? Is this common? Can I sue for a fixed rim?

probably not...you got free service, no receipt, no guarantee, warranty ect.
Why sue of a $400 dollar wheel that can be fixed for $20. Going to take him to "peoples court"? What does a lawyer cost for 2hrs?

Why would anyone who's been wronged think that lawsuit if the only answer? Doesn't anybody believe in "talking it out person to person" any more???
But the real answer, if you really want one is "Yes, you have every right to sue."
"After you seek remedy and no alternative solution can be found."

Odds are they said it was free of charge due to the fact that they were aware they had damaged your wheel. Weird thing is ,normally if a tire machine scratches a rim it scratches the entire lip not just a couple spots.
Should have looked at the rim right after it's going to be hard to argue after the fact.
Sorry about your rim though, get some touch up paint and you'll hardly notice
Good luck

As a guy who does tire all day I gotta say the wheel scratches seem off. Idk how they did it. They did not need to mount it on the machine to change the valve so pretty sure they did it breaking the bead to get the valve out

I think a lawsuit is out of the question. What we have is a legal system, not a justice system. Civil lawsuits are for money. You dont sue someone for wronging you, you sue for compensation. Unforunately I dont think you'll get much, if any, out of them. Atleast not enough for this lawsuit to be feasible.

People still take their vehicles to NTB? I'm surprised they're still in business.

You absolutely should bring a frivolous lawsuit before a court that would, if won, amount in $25 dollars judgement if you were able to prove that it was their doing. That is ABSOLUTELY the best possible plan of action for the minuscule scratches on your inexpensive wheel that can be replaced and repainted for less than it would cost you to file the case in the first place AND represent yourself.
