Irritated or not, you presume that my words presumed something I couldn't know (your knowledge of how to measure tread life). I only tried to help with a recommendation based on presented evidence. A mistake on my part for not recognizing your tire.
I'll just know going forward that if you do ask for help on this forum again that I'm certainly not going to offer it. Have a nice life.

Reason the shop said no is because most shops do NOT patch, they plug tires now with vulcanizing plugs. These are safe enough for nail/screw holes up to about 1/4" diameter.
Slashes larger than that are generally deemed unsafe, particularly on a tire classified as a "low profile" or "performance" due to the high lateral forces these types of tires see in everyday use.
As was stated earlier in this thread, I also don't see enough tread there worth saving. You say 50% but honestly, even the sipe marks on the center and mid-center ribs appear to be gone.
Sure, you might find a shop that will patch it for you but it's just not safe. Back in the day, it might have been sufficient to patch and tube the tire but no one uses tire tubes any longer, at least not for wide, low profile performance tires.
Replace it. Cheaper to do that than risk a high speed blowout in a corner.
