trunk door doesn't stay up

hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has this problem. Sometimes when i open the trunk door of the Z, it doesn't stay up. It looks like it doesn't have enough strength to stay up and just shuts down. Any experience this before?

I've had the same problem with mine. It only does it every once in a while.

I wonder if that would increase horsepower, or just make it really hard to shift???

I had the same problem especially when it was cold. When I took my car in for the hatch release TSB, they also replaced the hatch struts. The story they told me is that there is some type of ball valve inside the strut that gets stuck in the open position and it's more sensitive when it's cold.

It's probably the fluid in the hydraulic thingy. When it's cold it probably gets thincker and doesn't move as freely.

I don't think there is a TSB for it. I just told the dealership about it and they checked it out. They thought that it might have been caused by my Kaminari spoiler but I told them that it works fine most of the time. They got back to me and said that it was a faulty valve and replaced it at no cost. I guess it wouldn't hurt checking with your dealership to see if they will replace it.

For those that have aftermarket wings, make sure the weight plate in the back is removed. If your Z came with the stock wing, chances are that the plate was already removed. Just check to be sure.
