my older bro has an STi, but it's modded. it will kill me from a stop or a roll.
if you actually search you'll find stock sti's beaten from rolls. and you'll find lots of the phrase "beaten with an ugly stick" in regards to the STi. but it sure can perform.

He meant if anyone with an N/A Z has ever owned an sti. Dont feel too bad about losing to an STi though. There was a modded STI at the track and the c6 couldnt even pass it on the straghts.

yeah just wait for the new Evo MR and whatever the Sub's are gonna do to counter. Man it's insane what these cars can do....but you have to realize these 2 cars are starting to be in a different class than the Z. Factory FI, base price way above what you can get a Base or Enthus Z for, AWD....they have many differences and soon these 2 will outprice the Z as well...unless Nissan steps in and starts doing FI or a new motor (4.0 anyone hehehe)

Maybe in a straight line. A lot of people go for modding the car's 0-60 and 1/4 mile potential since the car already starts out as being one of the fastest around for that sort of money.
I'd still like to see one of these suckers take on a Z on some twisties

I hear the Steering feel of the EVO is one of the best for a production car. It makes sharp turns with ease and grips more. Amazing, but the reason I got a Z was b/c I can't put that into use all the time w/o worrying about the tickets.

Having a Z and having driven th pi$$ out of both STi and Evo (my buddies) in the twisties.. its gonna be a drivers race. All three cars perform admirably, however I would not tip my hat to the EVO or the STi over the Z with a competent driver.
IMO both the EVO and STi look like family cars. Very unatractive. Its like dating an ugly girl that can get you off quick. I'd rather be with a hot chick.. that after a few mods can get you off just as quick.

Sure the STI and Evo are fast as hell. But nobody seems to ever mention that stock for stock, that a normal Impreza WRX would give us a run for the money. Maybe not on the straights, but if there were any curves in that road we'd be GG'd.
I raced my friends modded WRX this weekend on both straights and curves. My Z is completely stock except for one of those fairlady badges(I just passed break in period and wanted to test it out). I could not for the life of me, keep up with him on the curves, but on the straightaways he was pretty impressed cuz he put a lot of money into his car. Too bad breaking from 100mph to a stop made the nismo wing i had in my trunk(was taking it to get painted)slide out and almost kill me. But I think my friend is worried, cuz now he wants to trade in his car for a used Supra.

I disagree about the twisties, I sure the Z wins. Check out
www.buccaneerregion.com auto cross in Jax. Even modded subies lose out.

I was there in July and ran BSP with a time of 48.599. One Lancer EVO in AS with a 51.383, Subies in Sm 49.688, DS 52.421, STX 49.454, AS 55.393. The ratio of subies to Z's their is enormous.
Althought I do like the cars, just too slow around coners (and their fugly).
