Just found out my AC doesn't work!
Has anybody had this problem with the 350Z?
I bought it a week and a half ago and just tried to run the AC today. The ac light comes on but you never here the compressor clutch engage. This really BLOWS! |

check list... you turn fan up, not auto, put temp at 60, put outlet to upper vents. click fan speed button so AC is lit up, click temp button so its recirculated air.
now all things working as they should, your hair should be flapping in the breeze, the Z has the most powerful fan Ive ever seen in a car, and its ice cold too. |
Victor,
I detect a fishy odor too, thought it was just me. Mine is more like Mahi Mahi with a hint of tartar. |
I find that after your turn the AC on or off, there is that "fishy" smell for a few minutes, and then it goes away. This happens in other cars too. I find the best thing to do is keep it in AUTO mode (with AC on) and let the system take care of things. There is no real need to turn it off -- even when it's cool, the dehumidifying action makes for a comfortable environment and keeps the windows from fogging up.
If you do feel the need to turn it off because you just can't stand the thought of it running, be prepared for smelly air for a few minutes. |
Man... i never tested the AC when I got this car.
The only smell I get is nasty fart smell from burning the clutch. |
They Fixed the AC today! There wasn't enough freon to create the pressure required to allow the compressor to engage.
They put some freon with dye in to see if there is a leak or if the plant just didn't put in enough freon. Strange. I rode my Hayabusa motocycle to the dealership to get the keys to my Z. I was going to move the car into the parking lot and return with my wife to pick up the car. Instead one of the salesguys offers to ride my bike to my house so I can drive the car home. It's all paid for so what the heck, I let him drive the motorcycle to my house. Of course I checked his license to make sure he was certified. And I made him drive around the dealership so I could see whether He knew how to drive a bike. The bike scared him. He stated that he has a Yamaha 600 bla bla bla. He never got beyond third gear on a four mile drive. |
I get a distinct unagi smell myself!

Yes, a Hayabusa will scare 99% of the human population. The other 1% are Hayabusa owners that think 187mph is slow. :D
