Default Tranny fluid change in NJ

Anybody near the Hamilton, NJ area change their own transmission fluid? I'm looking to do this when the temps go above 50º. Was wondering if anybody local had an experience with this. Thanks.

Are you changing ATF on a Z? If you are, you can only do it at a Nissan dealership or a Nissan Certified shop. The Z's ATF is fill-for-life. The unit is sealed and the fluid is Nissan proprietory.

its actually not that hard to do at all.... just one bolt at the bottom of the tranny... remove and drain the old fluid.... put bolt back in.. get a pump and fill it back up with... i forget, 4 quarts?

i filled mine up with redline MTF and one quart lucal pure synthetic stabilizer... didn't really notice a difference but hey... oh well

I need a pump? Does it fill from the side of the reservoir as opposed to the top?

i'm not sure if the synchros in the Z's tranny is made from yellow metal alloy or not. If so, make sure you don't use GL1/2. I heard that GL1 uses anti-corrosive agents that might be harmful. I believe GL3 is yellow metal safe. I think Penzoil synchromesh or Redline is good.

I am planning to change my trans oil but I can not find a pump. Where did you get yours?
