Re 040's

Does anyone know if the RE 040's are a special type of tire for OEM production. I can't find this style on any of the websites, Tirerack, Bridgestone, etc.. I suspect it is an offshoot of the RE 940's but I'm looking for some guideance here. All of you experts .... HELP.:confused:

Re Bridgestone RE 040's

Check out the Tirerack surveys: they report the RE 040 as a pretty mediocre tire, ranking somewhere in the bottom third or bottom quarter of the max performance tires. Top ranking--the Bridgestone S03 Pole Position. Wish we were getting those, instead of the RE 040's!

i think its a OEM tire. i think its used on some audis and the bmw z8 even. and i know that the sc430 uses the 040 but they are also run flat tires. i believe tire rack sells them.
