Nissan Canada won't do anything about my tire!!!

I know this has been covered many times, but I am so pissed now!
I have a 2004 model, and been having the tire feathering since around 20,000km... now the car has 25,000km... the noice is really unbearable now... and Nissan said that it's over 1 year and thus they can't do anything about it!
This is really pissing me off cause it's a known issue and they won't do anything for 2004s! :icon6: :icon6: :icon6:

its not too uncommon for the tires to wear out at 12kmiles (20k km). Have a shop look at your alignment and replace your tires with a different brand. The one thing I can say that sucks about the 350z is the stock tires and stock brake pads.

samw1978 Mar 3, 2005 07:08 PM

I know about that solution, but I just don't feel like paying for something that's obviously Nissan's responsibility! still mad after a day!

i got mine covered.. all i did was bring it in and they changed it for me

BlueDragonZ Mar 4, 2005 03:59 AM

If you only had your Z for a year it shouldn't it still be covered since they extended the warranty for 2 years?I'm at 20K miles now and I just got my third set and she's about to turn two in April.

not really sure why you guys keep replacing your tires with the junky OEM's they are just going to feather up on you again. I can't wait for my stock tires to wear out so I can change brands and never have to put up with them again.

It is simple. They want the dealer to put brand new tires on for FREE so they don't have to pay. Whereas some of us, like you and me, are fully willing to purchase new better tires for our vehicles when they wear out or start making road noise.

when people ask me about the Z the only thing bad I tell them about is that the stock tires and brakes blow. The fact that most people will never have any major engine trouble makes it a pretty good car. There is a reason people can only get $400 for a set of OEM 17's with brand new stock tires... no one wants stock tires even at 50% off their retail price and 4 free rims.

I will most likely be replacing my brake pads and tires before they wear out.

Good plan. Yeah I got my stock 17" wheels are sitting in the garage waiting for the day I decide to sell or trade my car.

I have to agree. I am waiting for the crap stock tires to wear out so I can get some nice aftermarket ones. Nissan can keep their shitty Bridgestones.

Your dealer or nissan canada?

this is not true, your car is covered by manufacturer defects.

Is the 2004 affected by the feathering TSB?

I am thinking about upgrading to 18's or 19's... If i do that i want to take my 17's off while the tires are still good. Don't want to have to put bald tires on when it comes time to sell the Z. In the next few months I will decide if I am going to buy a new wheels and tires or just new tires.

Even if its under the TSB, the dealer doesn't have to replce for free. I know the 03's are also given 2 more years.

I have a 03, and currently I'm at 8,300 km's... Knock on Wood nothing happens for me in the future...

MadMax76 Mar 4, 2005 01:27 PM

So if you change the brand of tires feathering will go away?

Edison_Chen Mar 4, 2005 02:03 PM

I dont think so.....

Some member posted a while ago :

You can fix feathering by an aftermarket coilover and camber arm kit (Front).

I have heard yes and no. I think there was a thread showing that the front tires wear at an unfortunate spot on the potenza's that cause the feathering and if you change to a different brand they will still wear in that spot but it won't cause the tread to come up the way they do on the stock tires.

The stock tires have a very low tread rating (160) and are listed at tire rack.com as "summer performance tires" or something like that. There is little doubt that you can get better tires than the OEM for cheaper.

curnaco Mar 4, 2005 07:54 PM

I put 4 new tires (Continental ContiSport) and I have no trouble with tire feathering.... :)
