The S2k is a pretty neat car... I just can't find a comfortable position in it. I don't even have enough room to actuate the clutch, let alone raise the roof on it.
One of these days, maybe Honda will give me the opportunity to own one of their cars. But if they keep building them in the dimensions they have, I'll keep having to go to the competition.

to much
sounds like their over charging you $2000. This time of the year in your neck of the woods you should be able to get a 03 for MSRP. Which was about 32600 the last time I looked. If their trying to sell you a 02 I'd be looking for a good size discount.
btw: I would not get the honda for the sole reason of it being available now. I mean neither one of them is worth a damn in the snow, so you shouldn't be driving them in your area till spring anyway.
I think the Z is more car, but the S2000 is more fun. I'll take one of each

Snow? In Maryland?
You're joking, right?
You probably get lots of snow in Michigan, but speaking as a Maryland native who's lived all of his 47 years in the Free State, we have only 4-5 days a year when snow is actually lying on the ground. We get occasional flurries, but usually if it snows and inch or so one day, the next day it warms up or rains, and it's all gone.
The streets are generally cleared fairly promptly, so it's usually only the first 12 hours of snow that prevent you from driving a light car. I've owned a Miata for 5 years, and only once have I been unable to go somewhere I wanted to go because of snow.
Forget the S! Go for the Z!

The torque is not this evil demon that everyone likes to make it out to be. It has plenty of torque for a 2.0 liter engine, and even accelerating at half throttle, shifting at 4500rpm, you will leave most traffic behind at a stop light. (people accelerating normal that is)
It does not have the down low torque of a 350Z or a Mustang GT, but it has plenty to be driven daily, and be a peppy car. Then, when your instict hits you right, rev that baby to 9000rpm and you will have the biggest on your face.
By the way, I was nailing 14.0xx times at the track launching at 4500rpm last time. So no, 7000rpm clutch dumps aren't required.
Also, I race a LOT, and dump the clutch a LOT, both street and the track (i'm a race *****, just ask S2ki.com) and my car has 24,000 miles on it. clutch is fine, and car is fine. It can take it plenty.

Well an S2k vs 350Z is going to be a driver's race, so let's not start the flame war there. I don't think an S2k would necessarily blow by a Z unless the Z wasn't broken in. (and vice versa)
I told you the low torque wouldn't be as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's also good that you drove a car with 500 miles on it, because a brand new one wouldn't have anywhere near as much power as that one. However, that car will continue to gain power even into the first several thousand miles.
I'm not going to tell you to decide between S2k or Z, cuz that's a decision only you can make.
If you decide to go with the S2k, get the 03, and try to get it for 32k or less.
Oh yeah, just upgrade the speakers and the radio problem goes away. (dont know why honda put such bad speakers in)

Well, 29,400 wouldn't be bad. Might be a great bargain.
I think that's better than paying 32,000 for 500 miles and a different model year.
Go for the 02. Besides, that 02 is already broken in, so then you wouldn't have to go through the pain of staying below 6000rpm for the first 600 miles.

yea for the z 36,683 with tax and tags hence the reason i said out the door.... the dealer put stupid wheel locks on it that is 300 BUCKS!!! but other then that it has floor mats, trunk mats, aluminum kick plate and thats it i think.... it is msrp no dealer mark up.... they are taking good care of me.... as for the s2000 in the hard top in the yellow color ... dealer said 35 out the door might be too hard... cuz yellow is a hot color... (every color is a "hot" color) they said i could get a silverstone though 35 out the door... but on the s2000 i prefer yellow... so have no idea... by the end of this week imma figure this out... till then please keep the comments coming.. i don't care how subjective your comments are... thanks a lot fellas... i'm a young kid and paying all this money for a car means it is goin to last a LONG time so i don't want ANY regrets... =0)

I know exactly how you feel. I'm fortunate enough to have a great job and can afford a 2001 S2000 as well as a 2003 civic for winter. I'm only 23, but I pay for it all myself, and work damn hard to do so. I don't regret spending a single penny on the S2k and it's the best car I've ever owned. I couldn't tell you the stories I've had of people asking me about the car, the heads it's turned, and the funny things people do just to look at it.
One time I was waiting to turn left onto a main road, and a guy in a car was waiting to turn in from the median. He actually was waiting for traffic and was looking at my car. He got so involved in checking out my car, that he totally forgot to turn and sat there even with no traffic, just staring. He eventually realized and gave me a thumbs up as he turned in.
Don't let them give you that 35k BS because it's a yellow car. suzuka blue is one of the hardest colors to keep on the show room floor, and my friend got his for 30,500 brand new (no hard top). Fight with them and tell them you won't go for a cent more than 35k out the door.
