**OK - - Who's driven a 35th anniversary Z ??
I saw a new black 35th anniversary Z at the dealer when I was in for an oil change.
It was the first one I've seen in person, the anniversary wheels and brembo brakes looked really nice against the black (they also had a yellow, wouldn't be my choice) and a 40K sticker price would make me think twice too. So has anybody driven one?? Does the engine feel stronger or about the same?? Steve |
I have. :icon39: I test drove a few Z's with the regular engine and then of course mine has the 300hp version. I can't really tell a difference personally. My guess is there might be some tenths of a second difference in the 1/4 mile, but that's about it. I guess my red line might be a bit higher than a 287hp Z as well...?
BTW, mine stickered for $38k and I paid $1000 over invoice which was like $35,500 or something, can't remember now. It wasn't bad though, I would have only paid $40 less per month for a Z costing $5000 less due to better lease residual on the 35th. At that point, it was a no brainer since I was stuck between a Touring and a Track anyway. The car also had a Nismo intake already that the dealer had installed and attempted to overcharge for along with a "market adjustment", which I refused to pay. |
The 35th Anniversary Edition is nothing more than our Z engines moded. They lowered the torque and boosted the HP, so you give up take-off torque for higher end power. If you've ever driven the G35 coupe 6MT before, than its the exact same thing (except for the brembos, and wheels); they tweek it the same way nissan did for the 35th Anniversary.

The difference is minimal and I wouldn't personally use the engine difference as a reason to buy or not to buy the car. I also am not sure what effect the intake has on the car, specifically the 300hp setup. I have never driven that version with a stock intake so the only thing I can speak to is mine with the intake vs the regular 287 version with a stock airbox...

Remember though, the new engine comes with CCVTC (sp?) on both the Intake AND Exhaust camshafts, as well as a higher redline stock, as opposed to the original engine. ;)

A friend has an Enthusiast. We plan on swapping cars to get a feel for both engines. A few runs down the highway should clear the question. |
