ya i didnt think so but i noticed it right after i changed the oil...maybe because i was paying more attention to see if the car was acting funny after changing the oil...knocking usually has to do with the timing right? i havent messed with my z at all...just put in my popcharger about 4000 miles ago

With other cars, the only time I had knocks was because of crappy low-grade gas. Maybe you got regular instead of premium? Try a different station next time.
I would recommend filling up with premium at another station now. That might help a little until you can get a clean hi-octane tank again.

Is the car KNOCKING or PINGING? Huge difference.
If the engine is KNOCKING at idle or when revving the engine not under load, don't start it back up until you get it checked. That is a lack of lubrication problem.
If the engine PINGS under a load, that is a gas, timing problem.

Yeah, I dunno the difference either. I guess it depends on when the noise happens: At idle or while pressing down on the accelerator.
It sucks here in Oregon....we can't pump our own gas. So I have to crane my neck and squint through the port hole to get a look at what the attendant is doing.
