Noise continues WHILE i'm driving ???
I’ve written multiple times about a ticking noise coming from the bottom of my car near the driver’s side door (though I can’t be 100% sure that’s where it was from). People have told me that it was probably the cats cooling down, so I stopped worrying about it. Just yesterday I’m driving; it’s nice out so I have the windows down. I turn the volume down on my new Theory of a Dead Man cd, and sure enough I hear that ****er ticking. Should I be taking it to Nissan is there a reasonable explanation for it?

?
i heard a ticking sound while driving, looked under the car and had run over a stick, it was lodged there rubbing the ground...

Sorry, that was a rant. I've been having a ticking noise occur whenever i would shut the car off. It would be consistent in time and volume, and sounded like it was coming from under the driver's side right in the middle of the car.
Now I’m starting to hear this stupid ticking while I’m driving the car, so I’m confused, because I’m sure the cats aren't cooling down while I’m driving :icon38: |
Hell, you live in NY, did you p1ss of the mafia? Check for a bomb.
Just kidding. If you hear a ticking noise when you shut off the car, that is definitely the exhaust contracting. When the car is running and you hear it, is it the same noise? If the car hasn't heated up yet, it could be the exhaust expanding instead of contracting. Is the noise there with the clutch pushed in? Next time you at the dealer, have them check it out. Make sure they note their findings on the work order. |
Do you hear it while you are accelerating or when you are applying moderate throttle? If so, have them check your rear axle.

I’m definitely going to have the dealer check it out. I have to bring my car in to get my windshield replaced … damn trucks. The noise is the exact same noise I was hearing when my car was shut off. I didn’t hear it when I was accelerating; only when I was stopped at a light and I happen to shut the radio off did I hear it. I’ll be sure to listen closely to it when I drive tonight, and get a better idea of when it happens.
It’s not the clutch, I have a 5AT though I’m thinking about getting a 6MT … not because I don’t like the 5AT, but I’ve kind of desired the 6MT lately. Hopefully I don’t loose too much money on the deal to try and get one. |
