Option Changes on Pre-Ordered Z's

I put in the order for my 350Z back in Feb. Way before we had all the pictures of the actual colors of the cars. I ordered a Touring Z Black/Black, playing it safe. But now that we have actual pics of the true colors of the cars, I want to change the color of my Z....The dealership says it's too late in the game to make any changes to the car. He also tells me that I should get my Z on Sept 2.(some 70 days out) Has anyone tried to, or had any luck making changes to pre-ordered Z's ?

Many people have posted that they have been able to change their orders, even recently. Likewise, many people have advised that they tried unsuccessfully.

I don't think we will really know if the changes were successful until the cars arrive (were the changes made?) We've heard various cut-off dates for changes...I think there is even a post here by BullishZ advising of a 6/21 (today) cutoff. IMHO, if you really want to make a change, and you are willing to possibly delay arrival of your Z, then force the issue with your dealer. Ask him/her to contact their NNA rep while you are there.

I was tempted to make a color change, but decided not to. I didn't want my delivery to possibly get messed up by someone accessing my order, and making a mistake on getting it back in que. Plus, I wasn't real sure I wanted to change the color anyway, so it wasn't worth it.

I've commented before that dealers seem to be able to make changes that cause the price of the car (and their commissions) to go up. If I was you and I really wanted that color I would add an option you don't currently have and then maybe the dealer will get you the car.

Ain't that the truth.

Ordered on May 26th (Le Mans Touring)

Called dealer on June 19th to change to track. (He said no way-cut off was on 06/17/02)

Dealer called back on 06/20/02 - he said changes could still be made up - coughed up another 2 grand on the NAV system. He obviously said yes!

I wanted to add nav on 6/14...additional 2 grand.......dealer called NNA and was told, "too late.......already have a build sheet on the vehicle" (ordered 2/15, with Sept. delivery date).
