Default Dumped the Nissan Extended Warranty

I review all of my paperwork from my Z purchase over the weekend and really looked at the Silver Security+Plus service contract I purchased. It was for 72 months or 75k miles. The car has a 5 yr 60k mile powertrain warranty and I couldn't see the value in addition of the Silver warranty; especially what I paid for it. I got such a good deal on the car it kept pinging me in the back of my mind how I probably overpaid for the warranty.

Everything looks so different than the time you're sitting in the dealership itching to get out of there. Word to prospective Z buyers - read through the service contracts before purchasing and negotiate like hell!

The only extended contract that is worth it is the Preferred Gold. It is the only one we will sell at the dealership for whom I work. Good choice dumping the Silver one, but I would still look into picking up the Preferred Gold.

You were correct in dumping this warranty, its a money maker for the dealers. Not sure about the 5 yr 60k you are talking about, mine came with standard 3 yrs 36, 000 miles. The problems with your Z will not surface most likely until after 100,000 miles so just do some self insurance and put a little aside each month to take care of your car.

i never buy an extended warranty when i buy a car/bike. you usually have up until the normal warranty expires to purchase an extended warranty, so i usually just wait and see if i want to buy it later .
