My Z doesn't feel fast anymore

I've had the car for 2 months and 2500 miles. At first it felt really fast, but now I think I've become immune to the speed, and it doesn't give me the rush anymore. I feel like I need another 100 horses. I plan to turbo in a few years, but that's a while from now.

Anyone feel like me?

partyman66 May 27, 2005 10:23 AM

I think this happens to the owner of just about every car short of a Mclaren F1 or a Koenigsegg CCR. You get used to the power/speed of your new vehicle over time, and it's not impressive anymore.

I have an old beater car(1990 240SX), and driving that from time to time helps me appreciate the speed of my G35. My friends say the same thing, although their beaters are mostly old 4x4 Ford or Chevy pickup trucks.

yes, what you're feeling is pretty much standard, I think. You're getting used to the power. I felt that way every time I got any sports car and motorcycles. Heck, my Duc 999 feels slow now, and I know that's just not possible.

Drive my Cummin's Diesel truck for a week and then tell me how fast your Z feels then....

Me and my wife trade off between our 98 Pathfinder SE and 2004 350Z performance so I tend to always notice the zippy.

The Pathfinder ain't no slouch and I love her to pieces, but I've never driven anything that compares to the Z.

RED HOT Z May 27, 2005 10:42 AM

its true no other cars impress me I had to lie to my buddy who bought a hyundai tiburon by telling him it was quik when I swear I could of beat him on foot. I guess I need to jump into a ferrari to get me excited again.

Sensation350Z May 27, 2005 10:46 AM

My 1995 pathfinder doesn`t feel fast anymore.. Oh wait, it never was.

In other words, my slow car makes my fast car seem even faster.

After sportbike, Z feels faster...weird?!

I recently started riding my sportbike again (son moved out, freeing up garage space for the bike) and---while the bike is much faster than my Z---when I now drive the Z it somehow feels faster than it did before.

I think it shows that human perception of speed (with all of our senses) is a very complicated issue.

Jetpilot718 May 27, 2005 11:42 AM

Its true, you want that fast feeling, drive ANYTHING ELSE. lol

Hahaha..... I had the exact same thing happen to me with one of my friends and his brand new Tiburon. :icon38:

:icon16: :icon16: TIBURON :icon16: :icon16:

Same here years ago when I drove my 92 Corvette everyday didn't feel fast until I got a beater which was a Neon. Then driving the Vette or Z now always feels fast. Even if someone drove a Ferrari 360 everyday it wouldn't feel fast unless you drove an Enzo.

Apexi350z May 27, 2005 12:42 PM

your z is fine... it's fast enough..

maybe you just want some execuse to spend money on mods then :)

Jaki May 27, 2005 12:42 PM

I don't drive my Z at WOT every single time I get in the driver's seat, so when I do go WOT it feels fast, altough before I got the TT I was starting to feel kinda like you're feeling. I suggest don't drive it for a few days or drive something else and then get back in the Z and it'll feel fast for a while again.

Find some curves and open it up a little...

Straight gets boring fast. :)

Straights get boring "slow" too. When you guys think your car is boring you, Isuggest you take it to a track and get in those curves. I promise you will be impressed with your 350Z and not bored.

One of my old man's business acquaintances, I like to call him "uncle" :icon38: owns a Porsche Gt2. To me, this car is retarded fast.

After awhile he had the typical complaints about it being slow.
He was planning on buying one of those track Vipers, I have no idea what they're called but it has the racing stripes going down the center.
Gt? GtS?

Well anyway, he couldn't handle it so he decide to keep the GT2. Took his porsche to a track day and fell in love with it again.

I guess you lose your perception of speed once you consistently hammer it straight all the time.

SRT-10?? My Z doesnt feel as fast to me as much as it did when I first got it, but when i go agaisnt sombody and ull on them i know it still has its balls

engiNERD350Z May 27, 2005 06:08 PM

Yeah, I need to drive my old Accord for a while (passed on to my sister) and get back to the Z. My friend has an E36 ('98) M3 and while he thought it wasn't that fast, when he took it to Auto-X for the first time, he said he realized that it had more than enough power for his skill than he thought (and he's a pretty good driver).

I couldn't agree more!! After slamming the Z through the Tail of the Dragon at ZdayZ, I am simply amazed with this car all over again. That is one hell of a ride for those who couldn't make it.
