Rarest Color
#4
Pikes Peak was the rarest.... there was a post on the breakdown.
LeMans Sunset was 4th..... Silver, Dark Silver, Blue, Orange, Black, Red, Brickyard and PPW - I think that's right.
LeMans is a pretty nice color... currently it's abou a 4 out of 7 agree that it's a good color decision. =)

Redline
Thanks for the plugs, Bonz and VQ!
Looks like Redline might be the rarest, if my survey is truly representative of the buying public and not just the online enthusiasts.

PPW and REDLINE
I always assumed the white, redline and brickyard were the most rare, but I keep hearing how the white Z's are very popular in Japan. Does anyone have numbers for Japan?
Since the snow has hit in the Northeast, I think sales are a bit slow, so inventory is growing. I stopped by a Nissan dealership (Kelly) here in Boston, and they had two redlines, three pikes peak white, two chrome, one black and one silverstone. Of course even with that many on the lot they were not negotiating price. I was just there to get an upclose look at the PPW for my own consideration. One of the white cars was sitting next to route 1, and it did hide the salt and dirt relatively well.
When I showed the picture of one of the pairs of white and reds to a coworker, he was shocked and remarked how great the redline looked and that he did not know that they were made in red. Of course this immediately becomes his favorite color for the Z and is now harassing me to get mine in redline.
In this post and the followup I will throw in two small pics of the two pairs of cars.

Thanks for the props, nosuchsol...
Sampling was actually around 320 cars (based on the VIN Soup data)
Based on that, brackethead's numbers, and what people have seen, I agree that PPW, Redline, and Brickyard are the shortest ordered colors.
Of those, I think PPW is probably more common than the other two. The data does not support this, but I've heard more people claim to have seen a PPW 350Z than Redline or Brickyard.

now in 2007, what is the rarest color to find a Z in? Is it brickyard? or Liquid Aluminum, or Interlagos Fire? anybody have a breakdown of all of the colors ordered within the past 4-5 years
