Mark up on new Z's

My dealer maintains that the Z's he gets $3000 - $5000 above MSRP on the Z's that the dealer has ordered and sells direct to customers. I believe he is wrong and that the premium has gone. This is in Houston Texas. What are you seeing out there?

In the Sacramento, Ca neck of the woods one dealer has a 5 G,
markup, a second dealer has a 1 G markup, and a third sells at MSRP. The latter two have zero available; the first has 7 sitting.

Mine is on order thru a broker at MSRP.

I grabbed one off the lot for MSRP, they were asking 1g over, but their teddy bears if you ask nicely. he had 8 on the lot I think it was, they were going quick since the one I got actually was sold, but the guy put a deposit and had till 5PM to come back, 5PM rolled around and I grabbed it. he called when we were signing the papers to say he'd be in in the morning. wonder how pissed he was. :icon04:

He's prolly just saying that to keep people from lowballing. And to make you feel good when they sell it to you for MSRP.

I bet you can get it for MSRP easily.

I'm sure it will take a lot more looking around now, but you should still be able to find somebody willing to sell at MSRP. It's still being done in Dallas, but if worse comes to worse, you could always order one from Bluefish and have it delivered.

Good luck!

OtownZ Dec 6, 2002 06:37 AM

What or who is Bluefish?

My dealer has said the same thing that he's been getting 5k over sticker for stuff sold off the lot.

350zSpeedRacer Dec 6, 2002 06:46 AM

Bluefish is someone on this board (although I haven't seen him in a while) that sells Zs. He's the #1 salesman, I think. Send him a PM and see what he can do. :)

You think he can deliver to FL? Seriously. I just sold my car yesterday and I'm without a car until my Z comes in. I'm trying to see if I might be able to get ahold of one sooner.

They're still going for MSRP up here in Sonoma County, Calif. (north of SF). Just saw an ad in the paper this morning by a local dealer for 2 due to arrive within the next 30 days.

As far as I know he can have the cars shipped anywhere in the US. You just have to pay for the shipping costs. I think his number is in a thread somewhere, try doing a search to see if you can call him.

Getting a Z even under MSRP is not a problem at all... hey, do a forum search with '$1000 over invoice' and I remember there was a dealer in Minneapolis selling for $1000 over invoice.
I talked to him 2 wks ago and he said he can ship anywhere in USA, in fact he'd just re-route the delivery!!!

What I want to know is....when are they going to start selling uner MSRP on custom orders?

LA350Z Dec 6, 2002 08:11 AM

In LA County... primarily at Universal City Nissan there is a markup. The way they calculate the markup is by charging you list price. About $41K for the track when we all know the sticker is around $35.5. The funny thing is that they have around 14 on the lot and they think they are God.

In Orange County you get straight up MSRP for everything. Custom orders take awhile, but still at MSRP.
