What's the fastest you've gone in your Z?
Now, I don't mean to encourage any illegal activity, and I think that any Z owner that wants to see just how fast their car will go should rent some track time to do it. But "a friend" of mine was driving home late last night in his 350, and had just passed the break-in point, and decided to see just what she could do, seeing as how the freeway was empty and he was in a spot with no onramps. Results: At 3500 RPM (this is a 6MT in 6th gear) the car indicated 93 MPH. At 4000 RPM, the digital speedo indicated 110 but the analog said 108 MPH. No reading taken at 4500, but at 5000 RPM, the digital indicated 139 and the analog 136 MPH. That ended my friend's test, because the conditions were no longer safe when he began to catch other cars that had previously been waaaaay ahead of him.
Additionally, who else has noticed this discrepancy between the digital and analog speedos? It seems to be about the same at lower speeds, but the gap seems to widen as speeds climb. Anyone?
Also-The verdict was: Rock solid at 135+, with lots of juice left. 156 top? Easily. Maybe more.
