Dyon'ed my 04 5AT, is this right?
1 Attachment(s)
Had this done at Racing Solutions Inc. on their Dynojet. (Thanks to Gerald and Amber!)
It appears their ink was running out so in case you can't read it 199 208 210 About 90 degrees and 30% humidity. This was bone stock to establish a baseline before I mod. The guy running the dyno did three runs in 3rd first before I realized it and it put out like 233. I only realized later that I did forget to turn the traction control off, but would that make that big of a difference? This would almost be a 27% driveline loss. Does this seem right? |
230 is about average. My car before the plenum spacer and JWT pop charger dyno'ed at 230 and then afterwards at about 245 (6 popcharger, 9 plenum spacer). The car still feels good even though the power loss seems so extreme, but imagine if you were starting with about 250 and then modding, :D.

Where do all these horses go?
|
Drivetrain loss I guess...transferring the power from the front to the back. I had a lot of drivetrain loss in my rear wheel drive dodge dakota.

Do you have a 6MT or 5AT? By your results that would be around 18 to 19 percent loss, much more realistic. |
That seems like a bit much. 27% is alot of loss. Try it agian on a cooler day.
*Shameless plug* New Philly area dyno shop.. Check it out www.phillydynoworks.com |

What have some of the other 5AT results been?
Does anyone think that the traction control could have made much difference? |
I have an 03 5AT and dynoed 235rwhp with Injen exhaust and Popcharger. Youre supposed to dyno in fourth with a 5AT.
|
that seems very low. i dynoed my car completely stock and put down 245hp and 231ft/lbs. before you dyno it next time, take it out for about 10 minutes and beat the **** out of it. run it through the gears to redline about 3 times. you should put out better numbers.

I doubt the dyno was set up correctly... I don't put too much stock in dyno numbers except when used for baselines to measure how much gains a mod did... there are too many other variables to use them for much more than that. Edit: if you are going to use those numbers for your baseline make sure when you dyno again you dyno the same way... as stated above you need to dyno the 5at in 4th gear. |
I did drive it hard for about 45 minutes which was the whole drive there.
And there were a total of six dyno runs, 3 in 3rd and when I realized the mistake he dynoed it correctly in fourth which are the numbers you see here. |
Reading the link posted above would only seem to make this outcome even more egregious. That says that Dynojet should read the highest, so that would mean it could potentially be even lower.
|
I put down 242.2hp with 229.5tq completely bone stock. And that was with my 19" GT-7's on the car.

I dyno in 5h in my 6MT and the traction control on doesn't matter. My best run with the mods in my sig ar 256.6 hp and 245.68 tq
|
So then if my car is seriously this underpowered, what should I do? This seems so far from normal variance that I would think there's got to be something wrong here.
What should I do to verify this and if I can confirm it is indeed this low, then what are my options? Is this something I could actually take up with Nissan? Should I find another Dynojet in Houston to try and corroborate my other results? |
i dynoed at 230hp and 231tq with injen intake and pulley. i've done a lot since, but havent dynoed yet.
drivetrain loss in the 5AT is rediculous but expected. the torque coverter sucks up a lot of power during the power transfer. |
I dynoed my car with Borla TD exhaust on and got 227 whp and 218 wtq. I was kinda dissappointed, but when I took it out to the 1/4 track; it performed well like other Z. So don't worry about the number too much.

Every dyno will be different, results will vary. The baseline would be more important to you when you mod and stay with 1 dyno shop (or 1 dyno shop that you will consistently go to have your numbers runned).
|
you say you first pulled in 3rd gear. that's why your numbers are low. then you got 233. that's your real number.
