2+ Years,34K Later, I've switched Cars
I finally just had to switch to something bigger in order to be able to go home from school when I want and my mom wanted me in something bigger. I loved my Z and really enjoyed hanging around these forums.
I opted for something considerably less sporty but I love it regardless. Its a 2005 Acura TL 6MT with Navigation. I've never owned a FWD car but now I know what they mean when they say 258/270HP is too much to send to the front. Torque steer like crazy.I really like driving it though.I feel like I'm 30. Its a lot more comfortable and trips dont seem as long in it although they're not as fun. I miss the sound of the Z, and the steering, and the look. With this car though I will be able to drive in the winter without a prob. Seriously, these forums are the best. The Acura TL forums are nowhere near as involving and don't have the community feel. Regardless, I'm gonna start putting some stuff on the car.I just ordered a rear sway bar by Comptech, all new white led interior lights,Ares' LEDs in the rear, 20% tints i had put on, and taillight tints this weekend hopefully. Thanks for all the help over the years with things and enjoy your Z's. Pic of the TL in front of the Z :( http://community.webshots.com/photo/...83430233QDadAN |
Congrats, hey at least you have Brembos', and they are black not orange, :) Nice ride! Did you get raped on the trade?
|
i love the look of that blue cluster
|
Must be nice to be you. I take it the Z was your first car ever?
|
I wish I had ANY car when I was in college, much less a damn Z or Acura TL.
Yeesh...I was a bus, train, and subway riding mofo for 4 years. Don't miss those days. |

The Acura TL is a great car for the money.

Good choice!!! :icon38: |
The cool part isn’t that you gave up the 350Z, its that you drove one for 2 years. Many drivers salivate thinking about driving the Z for a day.
The Acura is beautiful. As far as front wheel torque goes, in a couple of thousand miles you wont even notice. Another plus is that the Acura with good front tires will cruise easily through 4 inches of snow. |
Congrats on the TL. I bought the wife one and it is a great car.
Careful on the 30 comments, some of us resemble that remark! :) |
that is so funny.....
i did the exact same thing 36730 miles on my Z 2+ years old sold it and bought the Satin Silver 2005 TL. sang |
Don't recall which one it was, but one of the big three auto mags (R&T, C&D, MT) wrote last year that the new TL is "arguably the best-engineered production car on the planet". Congrats and good luck!

nice choice.. I haven't done it yet, but thinking about it.. if I can sell my Z for $20k, then I might go for the 06 TL...
Very good looking car, especially with 6MT!! |
Yea, a few days later and im really starting to like it more and more. The G was on my list but it was a lot more expensive and my mom liked the size of the TL more. I knew I would be giving up driving dynamics for size and gadgets that the G doesnt have but its fun enough although the steering is sorta floaty but ehhh you get used to it.

FWD cars aren't that bad. You should ride in my car or some other Grand Prix's with mods. We've got mega torque steer! :icon9: (Well ****, any FWD car w/ torque for that matter) I find it hard to correct sometimes, but usually it isn't too bad.
Grats on the new car though! :) |
If you have to get a FWD, it might as well be a Honda. Hehe.
Seriously though, Acuras are built really well. I bet that thing won't even have a squeak or rattle after 10 years. |
