"Z" Owner's Reputation

I think its funny how Z owners have a reputation. Like when I took my car in to my Nissan dealership for a fix they had to keep it overnight. When I picked up my car the next day the service tech said "Sorry we had to keep your car so long, I know how you Z owners dont like to be away from your cars very long."

Also whenever I am buying a part from the parts dept and I ask how much something is he always says "You own a Z, why does it matter?" haha like we're filthy rich or something. Its funny but im fine with it.

Yea F that...its annoying sometimes because people look at me like "dam rich punk kid". Its a 30-40K dollar car, which is the same price for a LOW end bmw, not to mention for the same price you could get a TL which i think is just a regular car. Whatever though, the girls seem to be pretty impressed with it...

No, I think it must be your tag line that's impressing the girls...

Yeah, I have noticed that too, my neighbors in my apartment complex at my college think im 'rich' and spoiled because of my Z.

Same thing here with the G, but I've never gotten an appology just "here you go kid... SENTRA FOR YOU!!!!" :(

Yeah, Agree. I always reply them same answer.
"No, I don't have any money, because after I make a payment for this Z, I have nothing left."
I just like cars. Its love and passion. Not because I have extra 35k dollars in my pocket.

Ive been asked "Is that you parent's car" or "how can you afford that, you are only 23"........to which I reply, "well, I work my a$$ off instead of flipping burgers, I work weekends, I work overtime, figure it out.

I'v been hearing the same from friends since I decided I am getting a Z. Alot of people don't know what they cost. Having a sportscar that is made as well as the Z and looks as great as it does you think would have a higher pricetag than it does. My showcar that was totalled out was a $27,000 hatchback but when I found out what the Z cost I did more looking into cars with my insurance money and decided the Z would not only be a better buy down the road and for 5-6g more I'd be getting the car I'v wanted for a long time.

It is sad when older people who have worked there whole life and still have nothing to show. They give younger people scowls to feel better about themselves.

I am 24 and when I am questioned about having $70,000 in cars in my front yard I just tell them I have made some good investements. I make good money and do make lots on investments. Poor OLD cronies just need to deal with it =)

+1

you work hard. you play hard. but the key thing is that you work hard
and when you do, you reap the reward.

I have a regular route that I cruise at night. I don’t shy away from Mustang, Camaro or Firebird drivers. Every now and then I pull to the side of the road to talk with street racers. They’ll say “Hey a buddy of mine told me about a guy who drives a white 350Z. You must be him!” It like being famous in your own home town.

Hmmm. Funny. Never happens to me. Maybe because there is a high concentration of Z's locally. People tend to stare more at the 911 Turbos and CLS AMG's.

I work at a Health Department for my county and the majority of people I work with has been here for more than 25 years and up. I get alot of complements for the car which is great, but I also get alot of looks from the haters that thinks my parents bought me the car. My boss even said that he thinks they're paying me to much, which isen't even close to being true.

With respect to Nissan dealers' service dept...they can tell if the Z is just your transportation or if the Z is something you really love. The later often asks more questions or mention TSB's, etc., which tips them off that you read up on things and are into the car. The people who just drop it off and don't chat with the tech are just the "owners". :(

Now that's what I'm talking about!

i think i have a reputation with my dealer. i print off a check list of what needs to be done everytime i go to the dealer. i think they are tired of me bringing the car in.

but you wont find a bigger enthusiast on this whole board than me and i want my car to be right.

i think they roll their eyes when they see me drive up.

NzZ Nov 8, 2005 09:39 PM

mc350z I totally know what you mean. I'm the same way with my dealer...so far they've been good about most stuff. When you really love your car, you want it perfect...not "good enough." Sadly dealers don't like this attitude.
