$1025 Ticket!!!

I was out about two weeks ago on a Saturday night at the local street scene. We had a few runs, on a local strip, and we then decided to go to another scene about 10 minutes away. It was me, a Supra, and a really beautifully modified Mustang, who just happened to follow us. At one point we were speeding at around 100 down a highway on the way to the next stop. The highway was empty, no traffic, and I seen no cops at all, well I atleast thought I didn't :icon22:. We exit off a ramp and cruise for about five minutes until we get to a stop light. A Mass State Police cruiser pulls up along my drivers side flashing his lights, and blocks the highway in front of us. He hauled me, the Supra, the Mustang that was following us, and about five other cars that were behind us as well, that I didn't even know were behind us. Pulls us into a McDonalds parking lot, and starts inspecting our cars. He wrote my ticket up stating I he clocked me doing 100 in a 55 MPH zone, but he also stated on the ticket he estimated me doing 100. And here's how he added it up:

Drag Racing $500 (We were all speeding in formation, so he assumed we were)
Speeding $450 (I admit I was..) :icon22:
Expired Inspection Stickers $50 (Insurance gave me 7 days to obtain new stickers, it was only the fourth that day)
No Seatbelt $25 (I took it off, to give him my license)

In all, it was the scariest 25 minutes of my life, because I didn't know what the consequences at that time were going to be. Plus it was my first run in with the law ever. I appealed the ticket, and I'm waiting for a court date. Looking to hire a lawyer for the court date. Winning most of the charges look good?

You admitted to going 100 MPH, so whats the problem? Better get a good Lawyer! Hope the Officer misses his court date.

Take it to the TRACK!

dkmura 11-26-2005 05:21 PM

Let's see, the cop times you via radar/laser/pacing and you admitted you were speeding 100 in a 55. That's $450 out the door. Drag racing is a judgement call, but you can bet that the trooper will make it a high priority to make it to your trial. Maybe you walk on the expired inspection sticker, but DON"T take your seatbelt off to give the cop your license.

All in all, you were lucky not to be given silver bracelets as souveniers and a night in jail. Get a good lawyer because you're gonna need it. And take it to the track the next time!

I didn't admit I was speeding to the officer. I just admit I was speeding.

Get a good lawyer, and chalk it up as an expensive lesson learned!

Definitely get a lawyer. I’ve been street racing on and off for 37 years, but still advise against it. We could debate the appeal of street racing for days. Best of luck with your day in court.

BTW why did you wait two weeks to post this tale?

Vamos_Rafael 11-26-2005 05:31 PM

YOU GOT OWNED MAN..
another thing is dont street race...
goto a track :p (im a **** and i know it)
the risks of street racing is not worth it...
(i worry about the law alot ... i got flawless record and i dont want any thing smudging it)

I run my fathers body shop, and I'm never around, or have time to sit down on a computer till this Thanksgiving weekend.

I think you're going to have a big problem with this. With all the horror stories you hear in the news these days, street racing is soooo taboo, a judge hears that and he's not going to respect a thing you have to say, you're another punk kid endangering everyones life (I don't think that, I'm just saying that the judge probably will). If you get the inspection done the day of or the day after the ticket, you can (in my experience) get that thrown out. If you explain the seatbelt part, you could possibly get that thrown out. But I just think that under the circumstances you're not going to get away with anything, you'll get no leeway. A friend of mine just got caught racing a Z (he has an STI). He was given 90mph in a 55 and wreckless driving. The judge took his license away on the spot, he wouldn't hear a word of his rebuttle.

Good luck man. Definitely get yourself a good lawyer, and I'd plan on doing some community service.

lol thats not really bad...1025

california just got a set of new laws....street racing now carries a minimum sentence of 30 days in jail

_BBB_ 11-26-2005 08:09 PM

Manjot 11-26-2005 08:20 PM

sillyhenwee 11-26-2005 08:30 PM

look at the bright side... you didn't goto jail and your car didn't get impounded

JLS2005 11-26-2005 08:39 PM

Why does everybody tell this street racing punk to get a lawyer, and wish him good luck!!!! Why dont everybody that has made this statement get a clue! He is the one who gives the rest of us a bad name, and causes our insurance rates to go shy high! I mean no offense to the person that started this thread, but you did admit that you were speeding!! WHAT THE **** DO YOU EXPECT!!!!!, a reward or something! Why do you need a lawyer? You broke the law so, accept your penalty, learn your lesson, and take it to the track next time. End of rant!!

zand02max 11-26-2005 08:41 PM

Just think you just blew a Brand new Nismo Exhaust!

EdgeOfSanity 11-26-2005 09:01 PM

never admit anything to a cop, that is the one thing i've learned from watching cops on tv.
