When I'm stomping on the gas in 1st and 2nd gears my tires are totally spinning. I'm afraid one day I'm gonna swerve sideways.

Most of my street tires when almost bald and especially when cold out will break loose from even a 2nd gear roll-at least in my Z. I think they are decent tires, I pulled 2.0 60ft's on them on my 2nd launch ever, and they handled great. I got 20K out of them, which is way more than Ive gotten out of tires with twice the treadwear after replacing those.

It's definitely cold out but my tires are brand new.

After I got my 555's, I barely chirp 2nd gear and can't chirp 3rd anymore.

With the Potenza's I chirped 3rd without a problem and even chirped 4th a few times.

They are about mid pack performance wise.

I have run plenty of 1.9 60's with them though.

1) Potenza's are "summer" tires. The don't grip as good when the temp drops below 50º.

2) Brand new tires feel slick, almost greasy. Once you scuff them up some, they will grip better.

I recently had my fronts swapped out because of the feathering problem. At the next autoX after that swap, they were noticably different than the old ones.

That's why we have ESP.

But yes, they are rubbish in wet or greasy conditions.

I think potenza's were good tires in the summer just like stated above and good to race on at the dragstrip. But when it came to driving on those tires in the rain, damn they are horrible. Espically when the tread gets low, your backend starts weaving on it's own on a straight-a-way.

The dude that said he can barely chirp second gear on nitto's 555 and no chirp on 3rd gear. Your not shifting fast enough and popping the clutch. I can chirp 1st-3rd gears on my toyo t1-s 275's on 10.5'' rim in the rear. Doesn't matter if i'm on the street or at the drag strip.

Well, powershifting into 3rd shifting at about 6.3k won't chirp and I'm shifting fast enough to not hit rev limiter just to give you an idea on how fast I'm shifting... I dunno, maybe my clutch is worn.

Now that I think about, I can chirp 2nd with the 555's but not nearly as bad as the Potenzas did. They liked to spin going into 2nd.

when its summer out, 2nd will chirp but not like it did with ****ty stock tires, and i can still do it in 3rd, barely. Now that its cold out, i get no traction in 1st or 2nd, and 3rd gets lots of wheelspin. I actually think the stock potenzas were better in the cold.

Well... I've chirped 3rd barely only a few times but I was used to chirping 3rd everytime I ran it hard with the Potenzas.

In the cold weather... No traction in 1st and 2nd. I haven't gone beyond that to see.
