What's so bad about that? Half the people that own Zs only care about it's straight-line acceleration anyways.

It's not a misconception, lighter cars with superior suspension design, do generally handle better than heavier cars with solid rear axles. Less inertia and better suspension is going to give you better handling; its basic physics. This track probably had a lot of relatively long sweeping straights, given a track with tighter and more transient turns the results most likely would have been different. A better comparison would have been a stock EVO and a stock fbody. I remember some muscle magazine doing a comparison featuring the STI and 390 hp mustang Cobra. Despite similar weights, and a 90 hp and torque advantage, the Cobra lost.

Your "facts" are wrong regarding the Road and Track article.

The Camaro SS performance #'s as follows;Despite having a lot wider tires than the S2000 and NSX the Camaro can not even match the slalom nor skidpad. The only thing making it faster around that particular track than the s2000 is clearly the superior straight line acceleration.

Engine type 5.7-liter ohv V-8
Horsepower 325 bhp @ 5200 rpm
Torque 345 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm
Transmission 6-speed manual
Tires Goodyear F1, 275/40ZR-17
0–60 mph 5.5 sec
Braking 60–0 129 ft
Lap time 2 minutes, 16.46 sec
Slalom 60.0 mph
Skidpad 0.87g

NSX as follows; (Note the tire size)

Engine type 3.2-liter dohc 24V V-6
Horsepower 290 bhp @ 7100 rpm
Torque 224 lb-ft @ 5500 rpm
Transmission 6-speed manual
Tires Yokohama A-022; 215/45ZR-16 f, 245/40ZR-17 r
0–60 mph 4.9 sec
Braking 60–0 134 ft
Lap time 2 minutes, 14.15 sec
Slalom 62.1 mph
Skidpad 0.92g

S2000: (note the tire size)

Engine type 2.0-liter dohc 16V inline-4
Horsepower 240 bhp @ 8300 rpm
Torque 153 lb-ft @ 7500 rpm
Transmission 6-speed manual
Tires Bridgestone Potenza S-02; 205/55R-16 89W f, 225/50R-16 92W r
0–60 mph 4.9 sec
Braking 60–0 134 ft
Lap time 2 minutes, 17.66 sec
Slalom 65.9 mph
Skidpad 0.90g

For comparison with a domestic car that does handle well;(Big tires, superior suspension and chasis design)
Corvette z06
Price as tested $47,675
Engine type 5.7-liter ohv V-8
Horsepower 385 bhp @ 6000 rpm
Torque 385 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm
Transmission 6-speed manual
Tires Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar; P265/40ZR-17 f, P295/35ZR-18 r
0–60 mph 4.6 sec
Braking 60–0 123 ft
Lap time 2 minutes, 8.39 sec
Slalom 67.1 mph
Skidpad 1.00g

Hey Cuz -

Bring the gang. Rolling makin' funz of uz.

Better be careful some of us might revel on those words.

On a serious note my family is from West Virgina. Hard working coal mining hillbillies. Most of you folks on the East would freeze to death in the winter if it wasn't for that Coal Miner.

Yes, I am a Hillbilly. Yes, I own a F-body. No, I'm not white trash !!!

WTF???

Because if you are: I own both and believe me the F-body is faster stock.
The 350Z handles better stock. That's all there is to it. They are really close performance wise so I have no idea what the heck your talking about.

That doesn't mean a F-body is better car just built for another purpose.
It also doesn't mean that a Z car is a better car either.
However, I'll tell you there is more of adrealine rush when step on the gas in a F-body. When that V8 starts grunting and throwing you back in the seat you'll know what a F-body is all about.

I have had 0 problems with my F-body over the past 8 years.
I have had 1 minor problem with my 350Z over the past 2 years.

Here's my F-body:

Here's my Camaro:

Here's my Z:

All of these cars are really nice, if I say so myself.

You guys can go ahead and call me white trash but believe you me I have worked hard to get these cars. 30 years of work should be worth something.

both nice, LS1, LSx are a great motor... Too bad Gm can't put them in a good car. IMO f-body's are a diamond wraped in a turd...

Now and LSx in a Fox body =

So a Corvette is a turd in your opinion? I don't understand your response. The Corvette is a GM product. Actually, I don't think paying the extra $25K to own a Corvette over my F-body is worth it. That is why I took that extra dough and bought the 350Z. Two cars for the price of one.

Oh well, you'd have to own one to know this I guess.....

Have you guys seen the new Camaro concept? Seems now all of big 3 are going retro with their muscle car styling.
